Sounds like texting is the winner here.
If the people you know actually text... :surrender

I would get rid of the house phone here cuz everyone has cell phones... The only reason why I don't get rid or the house phone is the Shaw long distance package....

It doesn't bother me when people ring, even if it's in the middle of the night. I'd say past 12am should be for an emergency or something though, not just a casual phone call.

we dont have a land line. cell phone goes on silent around 9 mostly, but it also depends on what night it is and if we're up late hanging out with the neighbors outside. in the mornings, im up early. but if you call before 10, you'll get your ass handed to you verbally! i just dont like to talk to anyone before 10am!

and people ask "what if its a family emergency after 9?" leave a voicemail and i'll get back to you when i wake up and see/hear it!

Funny. I just told my shift that I'm going to be out of state all weekend and if they have an emergency they're gonna just have to leave me a message and I'll get back to them when I get the message. I also told them to remember this IS our weekend off, so unless they're dead they don't need to call...and if they ARE dead, leave me a message and I'll get back to them, LOL

LOL yeah, hubby's family is bad about calling over something not life threatening. most recent thing was a few months ago. it was like 11pm, we were hanging outside with the neighbors drinkin havin a good time. he gets a call from his grandmaw saying his mom is in the er with stomach pains, mostly likely from something she ate, nothing major, not surgery worthy. but yet, granny was wanting him to drive 30 minutes to the hospital to sit in the waiting room while they ran the tests to make sure she was in the clear. WTF!? SERIOUSLY!? it was NOTHING life threatening (they knew that already) he went anyway. didnt get home till like 2am. same results....just some bad food she ate. AND, they wanted to know why i didnt come! WTF!? WHY!? i wasnt going to wake my child up just to sit in the ER over something like that!

my family lives about an hour away, so calling with something isnt like we can get there ASAP anyway. I do leave it off of silent if our son is staying the night/weekend with them though, incase something happens.

We don't get a lot of calls in my house that late - so I can't say it matters. We only get late night calls (9 or 10 pm) if it's an emergency or whatever.
