Pushing yourself is admirable, but excessive self-discipline can cross into self-punishment. Skipping breaks, denying pleasure, or setting extreme expectations can harm mental well-being. True discipline includes self-compassion. Where do you draw the line between healthy motivation and being too hard on yourself?

Self-discipline becomes self-punishment when I set unrealistic expectations or push myself too hard, ignoring my mental and physical needs. It leads to burnout and resentment. I’ve learned that balance is key, being disciplined without being too harsh on myself.

That's why we must maintain a balance without going to extremes between self-discipline and self-punishment. We must not always overdo it or demand too much of ourselves because clearly everything in excess is bad for us and this can end very badly.

it is when the focus shifts from building a healthy, sustainable routine towards self but you use fear, shame, and guilt to force compliance for self
