I found this website called waybackmachine, which allows you to look at old websites as far back as the mid- 1990s.

It jogged my memory of when I started to use the internet back in 2000 or so. I mainly used it to go on Nick.com and play games :D. My parents first got the internet back in '95 and mainly used it to check email and shop online.

So how about you?

I started using the internet exactly in August 1998. That was, when I started my apprenticeship where, for the first time of my life, I had permanent access to the internet.
(I've also been one of the first users of Napster. :ninja)

I remember I didn't use it that much because the dial up was nice and slow and I'd have to constantly re-connect because it would kick me off too much.

Well, I originally connected to BBS systems at my friend's house... and then later on the internet. That was back in 1994 I believe, and then my family got dial-up in 1995. We were also one of the few people that didn't end up using AOL when we first got online as well. I also used to play Command & Conquer, and later on, C&C: Red Alert over direct dial-up connections with my friends around that same time-frame.

I first got my own internet in '99 and have been on AOL ever since. I've messed around on the internet since mid-90s in college.

So you're the one that's still using AOL? :24:

Why would anyone use AOL today???

Anyway, I have been connected since around '83, long before the world wide web

OmG, AOL was one of the first bigger internet providers here in Germany. My husband used them and got banned from their services because he denied to pay an invoice which stated that he had been surfing on the Internet for (heads up!) 48 HOURS during ONE DAY. Great, isn't it? *tilt*

:humm: I think it was around 1999/2000 when I started using the internet at the library, mostly for a Calgary Flames forum and eBay. It wasn't until 2004 that I had it at home.
