http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/cutline/rescued-dog-bites-nbc-anchor-face-during-feel-141755422.html

It was supposed to be one of those feel-good segments on a local television newscast: A rescued dog. A grateful owner. The hero firefighter who pulled the pulled the dog from the ice. But that's not how it turned out.
The dog, an Argentine mastiff named Gladiator Maximus, attacked Kyle Dyer, anchorwoman at NBC's KUSA Denver affiliate, during a live, in-studio segment on Wednesday that was meant to celebrate the dog's rescue from an icy lake the day before.
Dyer was shown petting the mastiff during the segment, then kneeling on the floor to get closer, when the 85-pound pooch bit her in the face. Paramedics and animal control were called to the studio. Dyer was rushed to a Denver hospital where she had reconstructive surgery overnight. The 3-year-old dog was taken to a Denver animal shelter where it is being "quarantined."
Video of the attack, as you might imagine, has gone viral, but KUSA has been issuing take-down notices, trying to get the clip off the Internet. (The "Today" show won't even show it.)
Patti Dennis, KUSA vice president of news, said Dyer's surgery was successful, and that Dyer is expected back to work in a few weeks. "The surgeon was pleased with the outcome," Dennis said. "Kyle says she wants everyone to know she is OK and is concerned about the viewers who were watching the incident live on TV."
"Several people interacted with the dog [prior to the segment] and everything seemed fine," Dennis said. "Then at the last moment, the dog had behavior that nobody predicted or understood. Clearly we learned something."

In my personal opinion, the human should not have gotten that close to the dog.
1. the dog does not know you
2. constant petting and or putting hands on the dog like she did is asking for trouble
3. the dog clearly pulls away like "ok bitch, I'm done with you petting me" right before she gets in close

I haven't done much research on it to find out what the outcome of the entire deal was but i wouldn't be surprised if the dog was wrongfully blamed and put to sleep :(

Lesson to be learned here kids:
1. If it isn't your dog, do not trust it
2. Don't over handle a dog that is not used to you
3. Do not for the life of you think you can gain brownie/cute points by making eye contact/getting in the dog's face/or making an attempt at kissing a dog that is not used to you.

Oh man, I hope the dog wasn't put to sleep :(
This is a shame, because she seemed to like the dog, she wasn't being cruel. You just never know how they'll react, and it's best to err on the side of caution! She just kept petting more and closing in on his face...it scares them. That dog looked so scared when it snapped.

Looks to me like it felt trapped with her hands all over its face and when she stuck her face in, it was the final straw.
Maybe she has dogs at home- I know my Dexter would let me do that, but not every dog is the same. You can't assume.

I always thought that was general common sense with dogs, never put your face too close. Even dogs that are familiar with you can bite.

she shouldn't have gotten so close to the dog but at the same time, if he did that to her, he could have done it to a child who could have easily done the same thing.

ROFL ROFL

What a fucking retard, I'm glad the dog bit her stupid face off.

Yeah............she really deserved that :smiley24:

He'll probably end being put to sleep now because of it. Dogs like that, who are capable of doing serious damage to people need to have proper handlers, who would have prevented this happening by telling her not to get so close to him. If he did then he wouldn't end up dead and she wouldn't have had to get re constructive surgery on her face.

I think she needs a handler rather... You have to be pretty dumb to go face to face with a dog you don't know.
