I feel ya Alicia. It sucks. Ive been debating getting contacts. Ive been wearing glasses for so long now and Im sick of them.

I wear a -9.0 contact lens .. in a 2 week disposable. I'm wearing glasses right now so my cornea thickens up enough to have the laser eye surgery done at Lasik Plus .. no line, no waiting. (they are too thin currently because I've been wearing contacts for 10 years, and the lack of oxygen from wearing contacts thins your cornea down to whee there isn't enough to cut a flap)
Also, check out Contact Lenses at 1-800 CONTACTS | World's Largest Contact Lens Store® they are quick, reliable, and pretty reasonably priced. You do have to have a prescription for contacts, but after you fax it to them .. it's easy peasy.

alicia, how bad is your stigmatism? you might have more luck in the contacts dept if you just get non toric lenses...i have a slight stigmatism but have the same problem, finding torics in my scrip is difficult. So I just get regulars. They take some getting used to and if you close your eyes and move them around sometimes the contacts get stuck, but really you get used to how to move your eyes without the torics. My perscription is -7.50 in left and -7 in right. what is yours? Also, they told me i am a candidate for lasic, but just not until i reach 30 or so. My perscription keeps changing still so they want to wait until it stops.
I didn't have any problems with mine while I was pregnant.
