What would you do?

Would you take up a job that you absolutely loathe or wait another few months for the right job to come along?

There is one type of job that I really don't like, I won't mention it simply because it sends a chill down my spine (a very bad past experience, tbh a few bad experience with a few companies)

How difficult is your situation? Are you unemployed and desperately need work, or can you manage till something better comes along?

I would wait. I refuse to do sales work. It's not for me, I'm no good at it and I hate it. Everything else, fine, but why be miserable 8 hours a day?

It really depends. I mean a lot of people don't like their jobs, but they do it to earn money, rather than being unemployed. Plus.....the right job might not come along, and if you waste time thinking it will, you'll only get mroe depressed with not finding work. So I would take the shit job option, because at least then you're gaining experience in a job rather than being unemployed. In short, shit job > gaps in your CV.

If you don't need the money right away maybe wait for something else, but at the same time months from now you don't want to be in need and thinking to yourself "MAN, I should have took that job!" it's a tough call.

I've taken my share of jobs that I absolutely hated and am at a point in my life that I wouldn't do it again. I'm presently looking for something else because I feel there isn't any challenge left to keep doing what I do now. I love car sales and am quite good at it and have two standing offers to sell at local import dealers. The only thing that's stopping me right now is the economy so until it picks up I'll keep doing what I'm doing. The wage is good and the benefits are solid so other than boredom I have nothing to loose. My turn will come.
