Unless she's screaming for help then I don't believe I would step in, unless she was screaming and trying intensely to get away

I would've called it in and tried to observe from a safe distance. I would not intervene unless I thought someone's life was in danger...and I'd have to think REAL hard about that one. If it was a kid...no problem. Adult...I'd have to think about it. Not that their life isn't worth saving...but I love me more. LOL

Years ago it would have been safe to do so, and I would have been the first to go and try to help.. but the way the world is now, I would think twice before putting myself in the middle..
I agree with Natasha about not intervening.. and I'll tell you why, with a personal example..

I lived in NYC for 25 years, in a nice neighborhood where people had lived for years.. some, for generations..
Right across the street from my house, lived an old Italian family, and we were friends for years..
The daughter in that family was divorced ~I will call her "J", and had a daughter, the age of my oldest daughter.. ~I will call her "N", so you can keep the story straight~.
"N" was always at my house playing with my children, or they would go and play at her house..

Next door to that house, lived another family.. mother "L", father "D" and little girl "A", of the same age as "N" and my oldest daughter..

As a stay at home mom, I always baby sat the two little girls..

One night, I was awaken by a loud noise, and when I looked out of my window on the second floor, I saw a guy on the steps of my house, and he had a gun on his hand.. The loud noise had been a shot he fired from the steps on my house, right into the bedroom where that lady "J" and her daughter "N" were sleeping..

The following day I found out that the guy who shot the bullet ~who I will cal "M" (for mafioso) ~.. was the father of the little girl "N"...
I had never seen him, because he was gone from the neighborhood by the time we moved there..
"J" had been in a messy divorce case with "M", and they were still fighting in court, but all the neighbors new about their fights and had come to "J's" support many times..

"D".. the father of the other family had heard the noise and came out to see what happened.. There were other neighbors that came outside too.. They all saw "M" with the gun in his hand.. and "M" saw all of them..

He didn't see me, because I was on the second floor and his back was facing my house.. and I also stepped away from the window as soon as I saw the gun..

A few days later, he came back in the middle of the night and fired shots at all the houses from the neighbors he saw that night..

The new incident was brought up to the judge.. and "D" agreed to testify as a witness..
When the case came up a few months later, "M" stopped "D" on the steps of the court house and told him not to testify..
"D" did not listen to him, and went ahead and testified..
That evening, someone rang the doorbell to his house, and when he opened it, he came face to face with the end of a sawed off shotgun and lost his life.. (I will not be more graphic here, but you can picture what I am saying)..

After that time, I chose I would no longer get involved in anything.. If I have the chance, and see that someone needs help, I will call the cops.. but my life is very important to me..
It is a sad fact of life... but we got to do what is right for us, in order to survive the rage of some idiots..

That's a terrible story Willow.

I guess my reaction would be different because I don't even know anyone who owns a gun, let alone anyone who's ever been shot. You're more likely to come up against knives in my area, if that. Still dangerous but not quite as scary.

I'll never live it down will I?:cool

But once again for those who were absent that day.:ninja

The apostrophe in would've replaces the "HA" from have.

So, both would've and would have are correct....but would OF is not, and I believe its world wide.;)

Now....can we move on?:willy_nilly:

I don't know anyone that owns a gun either, and they scare the heck out of me just by looking at them..
Violence and confrontations of any kind go against anything I am or believe in..
Those incidents were the first and hopefully the last I will ever experience..

What would you have done if it was the opposite way, would you call the police?
