1. Pumping gas at a Exxon station on December 24th, in freezing cold weather, with what seemed to be a million cars coming in to get gas as back then, everything was still closed for Christmas

2. Mowing gas at another Exxon station in a August summer (had to be at least 9o with high humidity) while I was extremely hung over

3. Working the counter at a Arby's extremely hung over while my buddies came in and made fun of me

4. Working as a temporary employee in a union shop doing data entry work

I grew up working on a farm. We did not have horses but we had cows, pigs & chickens. Felt like I spent every day in manure. We also kept about 20 or 30 acres in crops most of the year. I have never waitressed and my only time in food service has been voluntary so I cannot imagine doing it for a living.
I enjoyed the actual farm work. It was other circumstances that made me quit that job.

I worked at Linens n' Things (home goods store) in the ghetto mall a while back. They threw me on a cash register with very little training so I always felt like I was doing something wrong. I was fussed at when people stole things. I don't know what they expected me to do. There was no way I was going to risk getting hurt to chase someone down. And later they accused me of stealing $100 because there were only three people working on that cash register and I was the newest one so it HAD to be me.

Other jobs I had that I enjoyed for the most part:
-Build-a-Bear
-Disney Store
-pretzel place in mall

It's a toss up for me between working the concession stands at the Fairgrounds and being the Chief Operations Manager and Head Dispatcher at the limousine company I worked at just before my current job.

My bosses at the fairgrounds were total assholes. They refused to back you on anything. I got pulled off working the paddle boats and forced to apologize to a little girl who I had made get out of the boats after she removed her life vest for the THIRD time.

Working at the limousine company I had a lot of fun w/ the employees, but I was severely overworked and underpaid ($8 per hour and working between 80 and 90 hours per week). The only good thing was that they would pay me my OT in cash. I was on call 24/7, though, and if flights ran late I had to scramble to get our passengers covered. It sucked balls and, towards the end, I would get physically ill going to work. It was THAT bad.

I spent part of the summer of 1990 (going into my junior year) working on a concrete slab building floating boat docks. No shade, very little wind. Damn hot.

Linens n' things ..... *cringe* When the first Harry Potter movie came out I was super excited. My mom and I made a special trip to go see the movie. But FIRST we had to go in Linens n' Things. That was one of the most boring moments I can remember from my childhood. If hell exists, it's probably just one big Linens n' Things store.

I was a janitor at a companies office building once (don't remember the company). Wasn't that bad, but I haven't had a whole lot of work experience, and I would consider it the worst out of my two other jobs.

Selling magazine subscriptions over the phone.... I hated it and walked out after two hours. I don't like tel-marketers calling me to sell me shit and I didn't particularly care for the the script they wanted me to read to these people.

Walked out after two hours? lol DAMN

My worst job was Waffle House. Never ever in my life have I worked with such a collective group of incompetents. A Super Master Grill Operator worked there (had been Waffle-Hoppin from store to store for 15 years...) and was making the absolute top pay for a non-manager: a little over 9 bucks an hour... :0 It was greasy and dirty as hell. Very difficult to keep clean and clear of syrup, hot, hillbillish, and so tired of seeing people missing more teeth than having them. Friday nights past 2 AM was the worst. The entire place was ravaged with drunks, possibly including some of the employees.

Is it really that bad? I was thinking of applying for the waffle house we have in town because they are hiring.

I've worked for a company with a mean boss. He always called meetings in late afternoon when we were prepared to leave. He expected employees to answer his calls after office hours to discuss business.

Working in the kitchen of a nursing home. It was a depressing environment and I was the only adult working there aside from the supervisor. I put in a couple of months and then just told them "Sorry but I can't keep doing this, I need to find a real job."
