It's this Saturday, it's technically my first interveiw (I had when when I became a volunteer) The place I'm going for is a fast-food restaurant, family owned very small bussiness, called woody's. I am a girl and all I really have to wear is jeens, and a dress shirt... it's alright to wear jeens, right?

I say something you would be seen in, in every day life..

It doesn't matter if you wear jeans, it's only a take out.. If it were something important like a high paying job (assistant, manager etc..) I'd say be formal..
With these types, jeans and a nice top shouldn't matter :) Just look neat and responsible!

If you don't want to wear jeans get a nice skirt or some nice black pants!

You're interviewing for a fast food job... I interviewed for 3 of mine in jeans and a tshirt. Casual street wear.

That's the difference in the age groups RIGHT THERE. No offense.

Think about it this way...the ones saying "jeans are fine" are the ones in your age group that would be interviewing. The ones saying "no jeans, wear slacks" are the ones in the age group of the person that will be interviewing you. I'm just saying...

I wore jeans for 2 of my interviews and got both the jobs..

and aren't slacks really daggy?

It's a fast food job, not something highly important..

I always thought slacks were baggy? :| maybe you guys call them different things to what I do..

and it's not say that she has a bad attitude.. It's her personally they are interviewing, not her clothes.. Jeans can look really nice...

Oh okay...I gotcha. "Slacks" is just a generic term for dress pants around these parts. First impressions are based on sight...if you botch that it takes a lot to make up for it. Might as well start off positive.

uh... I'm not a teenager there, pretty cookie. I've had several, several job interviews and I've never not gotten a job because I wore jeans.

Trust me, jeans will only lessen your chance of getting the job.

She's not interviewing for a 100k a year job, or even something that's remotely considered a 'career'.

1. She's a teenager.

2. She's interviewing for a job where she'll serve food or take money at a register.

Jeans would be just freaking fine, ya'll think it's some huge job with massive amounts of responsibility. If she'd just finished college and was trying to start a career, yes, dress up like you would in your Sunday-best I would be arguing for, but it's not necessary for a teenager getting a fast food job.

In fact, I think it'd be retarded to get all dressed up for this when the person interviewing you is going to be in "I-work-with-food" attire and not look snappy anyway.

ALL an employer cares about is that you're clean looking and dressed in the proper attire when you show up for work.

Wear jeans, comfortable shoes and a decent top and you'll be just fine. If you don't get the job based on the fact that you're wearing jeans, then the employer is probably a fucking prick and you wouldn't want to put up with that cock-n-balls dickwad anyway.

Yes James, I'm well aware this isn't a major job. The truth is potential employers like to see you make an effort. If they see you can't even be bothered to dress smartly for an interview, it will give them the impression that you may well carry this on into the job and not bother there either.

Who's to say they haven't put in effort? Maybe they need this job so they can buy new things like suitable attire for a high paying job..

Just because they wear jeans and a nice top doesn't mean they haven't put in effort, they may look quite ecxeptional in jeans and a top.. If they look like a complete dag that is their own fault, but you can look like a dag even when you do wear nice work pants..

You can look very nice in jeans and I know if I were ever to give an interview for a TAKE AWAY store i wouldn't mind if they came in jeans a niec top and they had their hair and face all clean and nice! Who are they to say that they haven't put in the effort?
