I run Windows XP on my desktop - so do my parents on their desktops, but I have Ubuntu (Linux) on my laptop which I would use except for the fact that I do online gaming. :/

Lets just say, i know a bunch of sites that are just flooded with viruses and trojans. With a Windows pc, my computer got to the point it wouldn't even go past the boot screen. On linux, i visited such sites and no effect what so ever. And to even make sure, i downloaded an AntiVirus program for Linux, did a bunch of scans, and i come out clean.

So yes, i am sure...am i 100% sure...no cause there may be a very tiny chance there is a virus that could screw up a Linux kernel.

Have you ever heard the saying "Mac's have no viruses" ? Well a Mac is Linux...just all pretty and all.

ill clarify something. Mac osx is NOT linux. the osx kernel is based on the freebsd mach kernel. which is based off 30 yr old technology. bsd isnt linux. so osx isnt linux. 2 COMPLETELY different things all together.

the reason there arent any virii for linux is because theres literally millions of different ways to configure it. what works for 1 wont work for the other.

btw, i run FreeBSD and HP/UX.

XP Pro SP2 here, I'm thinking of getting a new computer this summer so for a short while I'll have Vista, until I reformat it with XP :D

I am running Vista Ultimate and love it.

I wanted to upgrade to the RC of Windows 7 (heard about great performance improvements), but it apparently does not yet support RAID. Since both my OS drive and my Data drive are mirrored, that would be an issue.
