I have learned over the years that different things mean different things to different people. For instance I do not consider someone that is academically smart to be intelligent per se, because it means nothing to me to be able to hear something and then just simply repeat it at a later date. I value and respect people that have had experience and been able to deduce certain gems of knowledge that way, themselves, rather than have someone else tell them/dictate to them.

Over academic smarts I much respect those that have good people skills. Without people skill it doesn't matter how academic you are; you are bound to get nowhere and fast.

Freedom means a lot of things to me - being able to go out in just my pajamas, because I didn't feel like getting dressed into 'going out' clothes. Not caring what other people think, freedom from thinking to much. Freedom from having to work every day.

What does freedom mean to you?

Freedom to me is purely being yourself, not living for approval of others or making choices from fear, going with your heart all the way.

Dreek, like you stated that freedom means different things to different people, I also believe this way. Freedom to me is waking up and sleeping any time. It is going to wherever I want whenever I want. It is being financially free. It is making my decisions. It is eating what I like whenever I want. However, I still believe that freedom should be checked, and it shouldn't just be about doing anything at anytime as that could breed unacceptable behaviours.

to me it means, keeping the Government out of my life. I don't need them looking at every post I make, every person I call on the telephone. They should be protecting the greater good like fire protection, conducting elections. They should not be telling me which Doctor I have to see.

Freedom to me is not caring about what people think, but not having to care about that either. It can be as simple as waking up when I want to, eating what I want to or talking to everyone I want to talk to. For others, it might be something completely different, but for me personally, it means making my own choices and not being held back by anyone if I don't want to.

In my opinion, freedom is more of a responsibility than of a gift. When we are given freedom, we are expected to be responsible enough to go out and survive on our own. We are given the responsibility to be careful with what we say, and such. This is my perspective.

Freedom is being able to do what you want when you want. Nothing holding you back just live for the moment. This can be put into different perspectives. For me it was when i was backpacking and could just go anywhere and do anything (within the law of course). But now when working and with other commitments freedom is lost :(

Freedom for me is to be able to do and say as you please, not to be dictated. I'd hate to live in a place like North Korea.

I love your definition of freedom. It goes the same for me. It means not having to answer to anybody except myself (for the most part - I'm not a sociopath :D ) It lets me follow what I truly want in life without having to feel bad or guilty. Because that's all that really matters, right?

Freedom is independence, it's when you don't have to listen to anyone and care for anyone. It's when your every action is up to you and no one else can decide what you should do.

To me freedom is the feeling of having no limits to what I can do. It's the feeling of not having to live your life by other people's standards. It's going out there and feeling happy because you are doing what you want to do. That is what freedon means to me.

The power to speak, think and live as I please without any impediment in the middle that prevents me from being free and happy, for me that is freedom, being able to be who I am and enjoy living as I want, obviously without harming anyone because harming someone turns freedom into debauchery.
