You mean the Democrats screwing up the econonmy? Funny, but even with a recession that was left us in 2000 after Clinton's term, Bush's economy was blazing untill--well, until Democrats took over Congress in 2006. Funny how they aren't getting any of the blame in your book even though they pass all the legislation. Why is no blame being cast their way? Or did you forget how great the economy was for up till about a year ago?

You do live in an alternate universe. Taking over Congress does not mean you control congress. The margin of majority is slim and you know it. Yes it gives you an advantage, but that does not mean you can simply vote in everything you want because there are too many Republican's there to defeat many if not most of the bills and you know that too. The shit that is going down in this country today is a DIRECT result of Republican's being in change under W. Spin, spin, spin all you want.

Interesting how some think McCain is getting a free pass from the press and calling him out for flip flopping.

I see the same as far as Obama. The press loves the guy. and his inconsistencies are right up there. probably not as many because HE HAS SUCH LITTLE EXPERIENCE !!! :D

You aint paying attention if you buy the bullshit Obama bilge.

He is WAAAAY inexperienced. and a friggin disaster in waiting.

but the suckers who vote will buy into his crap. probably. because we have an ignorant and hugely apathetic population

Well if they're apathetic you don't have to worry surely :24:

Well I guess ya got me there. a truly apathetic person would not vote. :D

I got a couple of guys at work in their 50's that never voted. :thumbdown

That is truly apathetic.

and the reason these idiots that are elected are not held accountable. when barely half the people who can vote do so and then half of them vote for one candidate it sure is no mandate. god damn this shit sucks

Just about every policy he stands for. I see no good in this man, none. The media are so far up his ass it isn't even funny. Straight talk? Maverick? Give me a break, he has strayed so far off the reservation he can no longer be considered either of those. He has reversed his position on just about every major view he holds. It takes balls of brass to author a bill then turn around and say he won't even vote for it. It's funny that he has flip flopped more than Kerry did and on bigger issues yet we haven't heard that term used once in the media when it comes to Johnny boy. You cannot dismiss the fact that McCain has voted with Bush 100% of the time in 2008 and 95% of the time in 2007. Not the same?
McCain voted with Bush? Come on Tim, you know how the government works. The Senate passes it before the President signs off on it. So if you're saying Bush agreed with McCain 100% of the time, then fine, but don't make it sound like McCain is Bush's lap dog.

Sometimes I don't have the time to put on a full debate... but the previous posts needed to be addressed. I am just amazed how some people think about this election cycle. I am convinced that most of the McCain supporters are either basing their support of 30 second news clips or they are falling for the same old political tactics. I would love for everyone to actually get educated about both of these candidates before voting. Most of the time people just fall in line with their party and never look deeply into BOTH candidates, they vote on issues that have no effect on whether they would make a good president or not. When you still see people throwing out that Obama is a Muslim, you know they are either being disingenuous or they just don't have a clue...
I have to agree with you there, except I see the same thing happening to Obama supporters! I asked my mom why she was supporting Obama. Her answer? "He wants change." :dunno

2 reasons. I didn't insult anyone directly, they were blanket statements and there is no infraction button for admin :D
Blanket statements are ok? I honestly don't think you mean that. For example, what if I said "Everyone from Iowa is a backwards, redneck, inbred dumbass"?

Sure, it's a blanket statement, but it's still insulting to certain people here. Same thing goes with your statements. You know who you're aiming them at.

I know it's bad form to disagree with you on the open forum like this, but I figured since it started out here then the "delusional" people might as well see why it's ok to call them that. :dunno

Very Good Point. US voters should be asking themselves, "who is this man Obama....and what has he done other than give a few good big arena tele-prompt read speaches"....after all this is for the highest office in the land of the United States of America.....in fact, voters should ask themselves that question about both candidates.

Obama likes to brag about his superior judgment of NOT voting to go into Iraq......however, the world is better off without the evil dictator Saddam in power and there has NOT been another attack on US soil ever since.........Obama should use that superior judgment when selecting a church....after all he was a member of his church for 25 years.....his preacher married he and his wife.....baptized his children........then after 25 years of attendance Obama disowns his church........turns his back on them.........he seems to have a very shady past that people need to bring into question before casting a vote......too many unknowns....and very little experience........are voters really that desperate to hand over the keys to someone who has NOT proven themselves......hopefully US voters are smarter than that...guess we will all find out come November

On CNN, when Wolf Blitzer asked one of McCain's spokespersons what policies of Bush's does McCain differ with, he drew a blank. ;)

You are absolutely right. We should Always get to know the candidates. Unfortunately MOST of the voters do not. The good thing about the internet is, we can go look up information on these guys. Yet you will find that even with all of this information at our fingertips, you will still have people thinking he is Muslim, or he doesn't have any plans or that he is nothing but a good orator.
Do you want to know what I really like about him? His ability to get people up off their lazy asses and get them doing something. We need to get more involved in the government, we need to take an active role in what is going on in this country. The vast majority of people in the US believe their part is done once they pull that voting lever, and it isn't. We need to get in their faces and stay there. They work for us. And that is the #1 reason I will be voting for Obama, he has generated more interest in politics than anybody else in many years. So that great ability to give speeches does make a difference.

Why would there be another attack? They have 300,000 plus targets in Iraq to go after. They have already killed more Americans in Iraq than they did on 9/11. We already took the airbase out of Saudi Arabia. We are heading towards financial ruin. We are less safe today than before 9/11. There are more people in this world today that want harm to come to us before 9/11 (perfect recruitment opportunity). Saddam (Sunni) has been removed (enemy of Al Qaeda, Shi'a) and Iraq's government is now Shi'a just like Irans...

So yes, I hope the voters are smart enough to vote for the best choice.

Obama leads in 33 states with 292 electoral votes, more than enough to win the presidency. But poll numbers don't mean squat at this point, hell even the day before the election poll numbers don't mean squat... but it's all we have to go on at this point.

  • Obama: 46.3 per cent
  • McCain: 36.3 per cent
  • Nader: 3.3 per cent
  • Barr: 3.4 per cent
  • Other: 1.1 per cent
  • Undecided: 9.6 per cent
It also says something that Obama is ahead of McCain in Arizona and other red states...

your right.......polls do not mean squat

plus there is the fact that something damaging could be revealed about Obama between now and November......people already seem to be wising up about him.....after the big tele-prompt read arena speeches are over....people are asking themselves.....now what?.....and there seems to be no answer.....maybe McCain is the answer.

Not too much earlier than this time back in the day Dukakis had a sizable lead over Reagan. This is way early to figure out how this will sort out. Unfortunately money will play a bigger part than reality. Both sides will pump tons of money into bullshit ads.

we need public financing with a limit as far as using ads. if they want to raise money to cover costs to travel that is fine. the more they speak in public the better. I want to hear what THEY say and not be inundated with ads that are so full of shit it makes ya vomit.

This always makes me laugh. He wasn't even in the US Congress at the time! :willy_nilly:

I'd vote him for Official US Cheerleader with those qualifications, but not president :dunno

It would be really interesting to know how much of each of the following plays into people's decision to vote:

1. Experience
2. Personality/Perception
3. Party Affiliation
4. Label: Conservative/Moderate/Liberal
5. Business or People Oriented?

For McCain, his experience is neutralized the other 4. For Obama, you can argue that No.1 is an unknown, but I like the other 4 so he is an easy choice compared to his competition.
