What Does “Faith” Mean in an Age of Science?

Science explains so much, yet people still find meaning in faith. Is belief still essential when reason answers most questions? How do you personally reconcile logic and spirituality in your daily life?

despite studying science, a lot of people still believe that there is something beyond the science, something that is behind every thing. This is faith, and this faith cannot be replaced by science no matter what.

In an age of science, faith often shifts from literal belief to trust, meaning, or values beyond empirical proof. It can be confidence in moral principles, hope in outcomes, or a sense of purpose that science alone can’t provide. Faith complements reason, offering guidance, motivation, or comfort when data and logic cannot fully address life’s uncertainties or existential questions.

Frankly speaking science cannot provide sense of purpose or give hope for most people. In fact some scientific progress can even create confusion in the society, thus making people turn towards faith.

To me, faith in an age defined by science feels like trusting something you can’t measure with data or prove through experiments. Science explains how the world works, but faith tries to answer why we are here and what gives life purpose. Both can coexist, because facts guide our minds, while faith supports our hearts when logic can’t.
