What do you think of a "Get if Off Your Chest" Section?

Another section isn't needed, plain and simple. Do you realize how many sections would have to be accommodated just because someone "thinks" they might be warranted?

So that's why in its in a section you know not to go in. Of course, that would be where you'd spend most of your time!!!

EXACTLY!!! and there is my biggest problem!:nod: AND I KNOW IT! .... I'm the kind of person who, at the right times, can find myself jumping in head first no matter if the rocks are there or not... I don't know if I could trust myself NOT to say something regretful, because I am one opinionated little sod!:nod::ninja Those kind of threads just have HUGE warning signs ALL over them for me that says, "Elsa don't you be bloody daft, stay out of it" BUT OH NO!~, I can't...I have to open my mouth and insert both feet.:nod::24:...AND THEN i insert those feet forcefully into the other persons mouth...its never pretty.ninja

... PLUS it has to do with the fact that most people I have 'met' online are complete titheads and have no idea when NOT to take something personally....its those tithead I want to shove their head further up their arse so it comes out on their shoulders where it should be.

Actually, I think it proved the other side, from my POV. I am not seeing your reasoning here. This thread, in effect, became an experiment for the type of thread in a section that Mulder is proposing. The premise is that you have the choice to read or participate in the discussion. You chose to continue to post, many times after you claimed you were done with the topic. If something was mentioned that you didn't like, it's your own fault if you were offended because you brought it on yourself. No one twisted your arm. Had you stayed away like you said, then you'd be happy now. It's unfair to blast the others for their comments when you instigated further conversation by continuing to post. It's also unfair for you to assume that the whole internet has to coddle to you, when others don't share your view of what is offensive. Sense of humor varies. And I'd be lax if I didn't mention that if you continue to post in this thread that YOU find offensive, it'd be like beating a dead baby.

Not sure what point being proved here--Venting can be very useful if done productively. Most of us have to put up with bullshit all day long from bosses, co-workers, clients, or whomever and so venting of that pent up frustration can be very productive. Now I agree that if it turns into a "pissing" contest where people are just insulting each other that solves nothing. But I think some people have an unrealistic viewpoint of human relationships and how to deal with them on the Internet.

On a forum such as this, like it or not, there are politics, there are relationships, there are allegiances, there are friendships, there are rivalries--it all exists just like the real world--you can pretend it doesn't and try to shove it under the rug, but the bottom line is it exists. So while it may be the right decision in some instances to stop a "venting" or a discussion cold in its tracks, it also is sometimes the wrong decision--simply adds to the acrimony and the crap tends to move from one thread to another until ultimately someone is infracted or banned. I thnk the latter can be avoided most of the time, frankly.

What I find is, if conducted properly, it can be a great learning experience--getting people talking and discussing is a good thing. Anyway, if nothing else maybe this has served to make a moderator think twice as to whether or not to shut down a thread where discussion is going on.

So now it is time for Mulder to kiss and make up with all the women in the thread!!! :cool

What's interesting is that you KEEP saying, over and over and over (and you do this in other threads too), that you are done, but you keep coming back over and over and over.
