I am a self-employed structural and misc. steel detailer and checker. I work closely with steel fabricators on commercial construction projects. Most days I like my job. Some days it can be especially taxing.

4 days a week I am a Classification Officer for an insurance company. I classify documents into different categories and make sure they're allocated to their correct digital files. My job consists of control c, control v. It's boring and I'm trying to find something new within the company.

I am a Biometric Engineer
Besides support I program software to be used with biometric devices. Fingerprint scanners and etc...
I like my job most of the time but it can be hard dealing with the public.

I'm a 911 dispatcher. I answer the phone when people call 911, dispatcher police and fire and EMS units to calls, give pre-arrival medical instructions, and so on and so forth.
I've been doing this job for 14 years, minus a 4 month hiatus while I tried to find a dispatch job in Massachusetts. I can't imagine doing anything else...I absolutely love it.

HVAC industry. Short story is I deal with licensed contractors in both residential and commercial applications.
Does anyone make a small duct high velocity system as a all in one package yet...(where the evaporator is also outside)

Ironic you ask. Coming back from Vermont the other week I took a picture near my fathers place of the very first large job I sold, close to 22 years ago, which involved 13 high velocity systems for a building retrofited into a church (still there lol).

To answer your question, not to my knowledge. Can't mount the indoor blower/coil in a crawl space or attic?

Worst case, you could always look at ductless mini splits. Currently over 90 models being sold (none made in the US). Out of all of those, I wouldn't put anything in my own home other than a Japanese made system.

No room in the crawl...plus the entry through the foundation is pretty small
I have electric ceiling heat so I will have to come through the closets then over the closet doors..I can get in the attaic..but the hole is to small to get an air handler up there.
With an all in one..I can come through the guest closet as it is on an exterior wall..then go up in the attic with the supply.,,for the return I was going to go all the way across the closet to the hallway...the upper half of the closet from the shelves up will lose its storage space.
Mini splits are expensive..and I only need a ton and a half for the house..a little over 1400 sqaure foot...When the air comes on..I like it to stay on so I can suck the water out.
Right now I am using window units....zoning, dirt cheap, if one quits push it out the window and buy another one...but you know how it is the drone of the return will deafen you in time.

I have the capability if i need to throw 4 and half tons at it lol adding all the window and the through the wall units together...Used to have a single two ton unit that was more than enough on the hottest days and it still cycled.
I mainly use the 1 ton window unit by itself and is enough until it gets in the mid 90s..so a ton and a half is about right..I keep the blinds closed and most of the back half is shaded..off white siding and a vented attic...crawl stays cool..so I have heat loss through the floor instead of heat gain, partially offsetting the ceiling heat gain.
Also with the window units there is zero loss at the ducts and you dont have the added heat of the blower as with window units its a single motor and its outside.
I like to run em as small as I can get by with so they dont cycle as often....like it dry
When the ton wont keep up...I turn on a bedroom unit and leave the door open...at night sometimes I kill the ton unit and let a smaller bedroom unit do the work..home made multi stage lol.
I had been using a 7.5k{its very quiet} as the main earlier this year..came home one day and it was 79f inside so I took it out and put in the ton..was pretty humid that day and in the upper 80s.
But yeah a ton and a half will get it if duct loss is minimal....It there happened to be a very bad day for some reason..I could crank up the through the wall unit which is almost two ton and get out of the hole quick.
I see a lot of people with oversize units all the time causing short cycling.
Upper 80s today and the 1 ton was more than enough..one bedroom is closed off though..keeping the blinds closed makes a lot of difference...and no kids running in and out lol

Generally, a load calculation is performed on the structure to ensure proper sizing, as well as duct sizing to ensure adequate ductwork for both heating and cooling blower operation (you're right, units should never be oversized for various reasons).

I would be curious as to what your electric bill runs you in the summertime?

The added cost of cooling varies....if the ton unit run all out and never stopped it adds about 90 bucks to the bill..there are many days when it doesn't run all out and a few days when it isnt enough...but I am going to say cooling costs are about 60 bucks a month.
Heating is terrible about $250 added ...the house is all electric and the bill is about a hundred off season anyway.
