Grandma and grandpa for my mothers parents, and nanny for my fathers mum. I never knew my other grandfather as he died long before I was born.

I have lost 2 of the three grandpa's and Grandma's that I have had alive my whole life in the last 2 years... and they were the youngest and most physically healthy.... Alzheimer's is bitch I tell ya.... anyway.. they were always grandma and grandpa for all of them... My maternal grandpa passed before I was born... paternal got to be "coach" also.... I was blessed enough to play one year of college football with him as the head coach. My daughter has her grandma nell ( my mom) and grandma two or too (ex wife's mom).. we are not sure which spelling is correct lol ... my dad is grandpa craig and ex wife's dad is Papa.... gf's mom and step dad are mimi and papa dave.

What do you call your parents, parents? :p

In my family it's Nanny and Papa, I am not sure why.

I am especially interested in hearing from those outside the U.S.

:D

Deceased :D

Sorry but could not resist :p

Mine were born before 1900 so I guess that is to be expected :D

On my dad's side they were nana and papa
On my mom's side abuelita y abuelito
As I got I older I started calling my abuelita 'abue' for short
She's the only one left

My son calls my mom "wita", short for abuelita as he can't say it, might stick
And he calls my dad papa

I never really knew any of mine. The all lived back in Ohio and West Virginia. I was too far away in AZ.

On my dad's side, Grandma and Grandpa.
On my mom's side Grossmama (not sure of the spelling...it's German) to differeniate between which Grandma we were referring to. She was also less fluent in English than my other grandparents so it made her chipper when we called her Grossmama. Never really called my mom's dad anything. He left my grandma before my parents even met and I've maybe seen him two or three times in my life. He's my only grandparent left living now.

I call both my grandmothers nan or nanny. I call my granddad on my mum's side, grampy and when my granddad on my dad's side was alive, I called him Granddaddy.

Okay, as Darrell asked for here's a short excursion into German terms of family relations :D

In German the Grandmother is "Großmutter". Affectionate forms are "Oma" (more common) or "Omi" (less common).
.... Grandfather is "Großvater". Affectionate forms are "Opa" (more common) or "Opi" (less comon).

I use to call my Grandma "Oma". :)

My mom's side is Nanny and Papaw. Pap's mom was Mawmaw (more Maamaw sounding though) before she passed.

Dad's side is Grandpa, and before she passed, Granze.

I have no living grandparents left.

I called my Dad's mom Granny Flo. His dad died long before I was born.

My mom's parents were Ouma and Oupa (Afrikaans)

My kids call hubby's parents Nana and Pappa. And my mom Granny.

I call my mums parents Oma and Opa, because they are dutch and that is dutch for grandma and grandpa.

I call my dads dad, Mac. That is what everyone calls my grandfather.
I called my dads mum, Sasa, because we could not pronounce Sonia (her name) when we were little and it stuck.
