what did you cook?

Our 13 pound turkey fed 7 people and there was still a bowl of left over meat for sandwiches tomorrow.

How many people are you feeding with a 30 lb turkey. That would be one heck of a huge bird! I wonder if that thing would even fit in my oven - LOL!

Any turkey meat in the regular fridge that is not eaten within 3-4 days of cooking gets thrown away so as noone gets sick from it.

I've never tried freezing turkey meat though after it has been cooked. How does it taste after you freeze it? Does it still taste just as juice and fresh?

seriously? me and jennie are the only women around here who actually cooked? even if i go to familys house i still cook, we always have everyone bring a dish or 2 to cut down on all the work the host has to do

I didnt cook cause I worked Wed night (the night before Thanksgiving) from 7p-7a and slept all day Thanksgiving day when I got off that morning cause I had to be at work Thanksgiving night

I did this last year and I decided to do it again this year. I called my church and made Thanksgiving dinner for a family that needed a helping hand. Last year, I made it for a man who lived with his 2 kids and his father. The wife/mother had died of cancer a few months prior. This year, I made it for a young couple with 3 children. The husband had lost his job.
I made...
17 pound turkey
10 pounds of mashed potatoes and gravy
8 pounds of sweet potato casserole (with the marshmallows on top)
Green bean casserole with the mushroom soup, fresh mushrooms and those french-fried onions
Cranberries (the jellied kind in the can)
Stuffing (with cut up maraschino cherries, onions, peppers, walnuts, celery and sausage)
Sparkling grape juice (for the kids)
12-pack of beer and 2 bottles of wine (one red, one white)
Rolls (I didn't make them though)
Pumpkin pie with Cool Whip
Lemon meringue pie (I did make meringue)
Chocolate cream pie

The look on their faces was priceless. I needed to do this for someone.
