what are you most sorry for in this life ?

I don't have a problem with apologizing when I'm in the wrong.

I suppose if there was one thing I am sorry about to this day, it would be hurting someone from my past. I didn't hurt this person intentionally and this person knows this, however, it still plays on my mind from time to time.

Regrets and being sorry are two different things. There's no need to regret the things you've done in life, we learn from them and move on. But there is nothing wrong with saying sorry when you know you've done wrong.

Oh em gee. I forgot to put IMO.

I was going by the title of the thread......which reads.. what are you most sorry for in this life ?

To me that means the same thing as what do you regret.

My comment wasn't aimed at you or I'd have quoted. It was a general comment, on how I believe them to be different, since there is more than just you that replied with that.
I went off how the title read.

Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me for living...lol...but I don't believe it's your place to define a thread that doesn't belong to you.....you commented I responded. (sorry)...lol

Hiya Hun..just wanted to say i dont think she is defining it at all....its just her opinion on what regret and being sorry about something is?

Thats how she views it..and in away Anita has a point..
Being sorry for something thats happened can mean something totally different than regret.

Thanks doll........

When you say 'I'm sorry I did that' is it not the same as saying 'I regret doing that'...? Even in the dictionary the word 'sorry' means to regret. j/s

I was replying to the thread holders question....that's all. :)

Exactly. I know I can be sorry for something, but not regret it. Once I get the apology off my chest I'm usually good.

There are somethings in life people don't get a chance to say sorry or they've done something they have to live with and regret the rest of their lives. That's pretty much how I see it.

No.....you regretted it at the time though which is why you said 'sorry'. I think you should look those words up because they're pretty much one in the same... I'm not sure but I think you're thinking that the word regret means being sorry for something for the rest of your life....not true because both words can be used here and mean the same thing..ie ( if I quit school, I will be sorry for it for the rest of my life) ( if I quit school, I will regret it for the rest of my life).... I could regret having said something to a person today and say I'm sorry to them tomorrow .js

Just did some research...
Regret is a negative conscious and emotional reaction to personal past acts and behaviors. Regret is often expressed by the term "sorry."

"Sorry," an expression of regret or condolence

So yes it can be deemed as the same thing....but i guess it depends on your individual views on it.
:)

dose this country have a problem with saying sorry ?

my first example will for sure raise a hair,
because until he is six feet under, "sorry" wont pardon Tony Blair.
it can never be dropped because its this country's "song",
who cares what Blair was told and if the intelligence was wrong.
secondly on the other side we have our press,
every so often then is a liable case and "sorry" is the address.
people bump into me in the street,
to rub salt in a wound they then step on my feet.
in the supermarket over the tan-oi for the ques they apologise,
are they generally sorry or is it to win my custom exercise.
the hospitals, doctors, dentists have a built in quote,
Just like all the MP's to justify everything from a mote.
the end is near and the Joe wont end with glory,
for putting up with all my twisted views and poetry, i am so sorry.

the joe is most sorry for driveing all you lot nuts on offtopics with my poems lol
whats your biggest reason for sorro ?

My one regret is to have been responsible for another's life.

What do you mean, having fathered a child?

My biggest regret is when I was 11 years old and my Uncle molested me I didn't tell anyone until I was 18. But then I found out he had molested his daughter and who knows who else and they didn't say anything either.

Oh, I also regret staying married to my first husband as long as I did, I was truly miserable the last few years......oh well.

No. I would have been delighted to be a father. I just never got the chance to go through life with the person I love.

I'm sorry I lied.
I'm sorry for all the things I should've done/said and didn't.
I'm sorry for all the things I did do/say and shouldn't have.
I'm sorry for the way I hurt you and the way I made you feel.
Mostly, I'm sorry I didn't say all of it sooner, when it might've made a difference.

Thank you for your condolences though I have learned to deal with it in my own little way at times. It was simply unfortunate that I had learn the true meaning of heartache at such a young age is all. In the end...one can only hope that such a place as Heaven exists. If not, then one can still dream.

It exists. How old were you when you lost her?

It exists. How old were you when you lost her?

I was just about to turn eighteen at the time. It was an early and a young type of love, but there were things that cemented us as one. I not only lost her that night, but another as well. So, in a sense, my first lesson as a young adult was that life is never fair and that there is no age that keeps one from learning this valuable lesson whether it be at at an early age or older age as well. Since that time I have merely lived my life within the memories of what once was and what is now. It is my own solace that keeps me from going mad in a sense. As I had said once before...my one regret is being responsible for another's life.
