OMG! Someone else around here who likes Shane MacGowan! I saw the Pogues at Brixton acadamy, years ago. They are brilliant!:)

Shane MacGowan is a legend amongst Irish songwriters! He still sounds great even when he is drunk as a skunk (the norm).

I hope they played Fairytale of New York. :)

i have bad memories of 'Dirty Old Town', as a result i;v never really enjoyed any Irish sounding music

Yeah they did. They brought some girl called Nina on and just said "This one's for Kirsty" before breaking into it. She had only been killed a few months before. Awesome moment, everyone swaying to the music, arm in arm! I actually got interviewed on London tonight about her as we had a bench put in Soho square dedicated to her. We then had a blinding piss up in a pub in Greek Street where I was standing at the bar next to Spider from the Pogues!:)
