I just got a phone call from my husband. He's going into surgery.

Apparently, while he was fixing an MRI this morning, Matt fell from the ladder he was using, and stuck out his hand to catch himself. His elbow started hurting like a motherfucker, but he finished the job, and then mentioned what happened to the MRI tech. Since there was a scanner right there, they stuck his arm in, scanned and guess what? Two hairline fractures to his elbow.

So since he's in the hospital anyway, they book him for surgery right away. He has to get two screws stuck in his elbow. I get a phone call from him right before he's about to go in.

He gets the next two weeks off.

What a loser.

Naw, he's a loser for falling in the first place.

Oh, and he's not going completely under for the surgery. He's going to stay awake and stare at it. How gross is that? They're putting screws into the bone of his elbow, and he wants to watch?!

Don't scold me for laughing at him.

It's either this or I burst into pointless worried tears. And he's fine, so I may as well laugh. He kept working after he fell off the ladder, silly guy. Whatevs.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a simple procedure. He should tell them to make that arm bionic! HE HE!

But don't guys always fall off ladders? I've fell off many a ladder; never broke anything and laughed afterwards. But now James is making me feel kinda guilty (NOT!) for laughing at myself....

I've seen verizon guys fall off 24 foot ladders and lose their lives, or break both legs.

My grandpa died when he was on a ladder and accidently grounded himself. It wasn't the shock that killed him, it was the fall 30' down to the ground.

I don't think laughing about it is right way to go about it, is all.

I know Leland cries a lot (which is fine) but it's nothing to worry about. Its a minor hairline fracture that is getting corrected in a short period of time. Nothing to worry about.

I don't think he was exactly in any danger of losing his life. He fell from maybe, two feet up. And if Matt's laughing about it, I don't think he's exactly shaken up about the whole thing.

The surgery went well, by the way.

Of course I knew that.

He says that he can't actually really remember much of it. He theorizes that it probably hurt like a bitch, and he was just too drugged up to remember.

Glad to hear it was only a minor injury.

My neighbor fell off the second rung of a ladder and got paralyzed frome the waste down. His livelyhood was construction. It was a very unfortunate accident, but fortunately he has learned to live happily with his injury.

He knows exactly how to tuck, twist, roll, or whatever when he falls off a bicycle to avoid injury. But he falls from the second rung of a ladder onto his ass? He puts out his hand and fractures his elbow--twice.

He was really groggy, and reeeeeally pissed off last night because his brother sort of dumped his kids on us, so now he's getting some sleep.
