Hard to say but it would seem to me, that if a believer really believed, then, thou shalt not kill, would lead them. Not the government's ---go and kill.

The fact that believers kill tend to show that they fear government more than God or eternal damnation.

Imagine the killer in front of God saying,------but but but God, they told me to.
I think God would be quick to send any of these to hell.

I think the long list of atheist regimes that killed many people in the 20th century is something to consider. Especially since such a small percentage of the world's population is atheist. So few responsible for killing so many.

We can do this forever if you like but there is a topic in the O P.

Any time you want to get to it is fine with me.

You might note that I ignore most of dumbbugs idiocies and I hope you are a better apologist that he is.

This board needs at least one to give some sport.

Are you suggesting theists are more moral than atheists? If so, can you back up that claim with evidence or are you just prejudiced?

Savvy, forget about trying to have an intelligent conversation here. Many here don't know enough about these type subjects so they resort to flinging insults and other nonsense. They surely don't know enough to debate anything.

You are right about that. The information I gave correlates about the same as the information in the video posted by the OP. But there was a study done in Canada that asked theists and atheists which values they consider to be important. The results gave how each person considered the values.

Here are the results of the study:

Moral Values of Theists vs. Atheists

Moral Value

Honesty/ Theists: 94% Atheists:89%
Kindness/ Theists: 88 Atheists:75
Family life/ Theists: 88 Atheists: 65
Being loved Theists: 86 Atheists: 70
Friendship/ Theists: 85 Atheists: 74
Courtesy/ Theists: 81 Atheists:71
Concern for others/Theists: 82 Atheists: 63
Forgiveness/ Theists:84 Atheists: 52
Politeness/ Theists: 77 Atheists: 65
Friendliness/ Theists: 79 Atheists: 66
Patience/ Theists: 72 Atheists:39
Generosity/ Theists: 67 Atheists:37

I really couldn't believe the generousity part of that study but it is backed up by another study. The Hoover Institution, which is part of Stanford University, has studied philanthropic giving and volunteerism among populations. Making 30,000 observations over 50 different communities, they found that religious people are much more likely to donate money to charities, religious 91% to non-religious 66%, more likely to volunteer time, religious 67% to non-religious 44%. The amount they give is also quite different with religious people averaging $2,210, compared to only $642 among the non-religious, even though incomes and education levels are virtually the same. Religious people's giving is not just to religious causes either, since they also out give secular people when donating to secular causes.
