Why thank you for the complement. There's no higher complement that you could pay me than to say that I value my freedom so much that I support the rights of others to voice views that would be silenced in other countries.

I support the principles that this country was founded on, and t he Constitution as the highest law of the land. You call us hated. I call us the most free nation in the world.

For the record, I'm probably one of the most open-minded people around here. I respect the right of others to have their own opinions, just as I expect to have my right to disagree be respected in return. I don't care what it is that you choose to believe, but when you say things that I believe to be incorrect, I'm going to call you on them. I support the right of people to live their lives the way that they see fit.

If we silenced the voices of those that have unpopular opinions, then we're no better than Iran, China, North Korea, or any other nation that censors its citizens.

I'd rather be disliked because I stand by my principles, than to be liked because I abandoned them.

Someone mentioned in another thread on this subject that it is better for scum like phelps to have their voice out in the open than behind closed doors. I agree. That way we know what they are thinking.

I have heard of the guard but not the other group.
I guess where I'm having trouble is when the freedom of speaking turns into actions of hate.
I know there is a very fine line somewhere. I just wish it was more clearly defined that's all.

I think you will find they don't attract all that much attraction or the police would arrest them for creating a disturbance.

But as long as those at the funeral do not have to put up with them then let them have their stupid side show. It only exposes their lunacy for all to see. This is only a tiny church in a very closed community so who gives a shit about them

We have a Westboro Baptist Church in the city where I live.
They put a sign on their front lawn saying " We have nothing to do with any other church with this name."
In talking with some police officers I know I was told that this church were getting some threatening phone calls and the bomb squad had been called out once.

Well I did go south once last year and have been thinking about doing it again but I really have to force myself to do it. There's a nice restaurant in Bellingham I really like and it's getting real tempting.

I can go east and do but I won't cross the Alberta border. There's quite a few miles between me and it. Maybe you should get your atlas out. Lot's of nice scenery to see and interesting places to visit. I can go west and have quite a few times. Vancouver Island is a beautiful place.... matter of fact when it's time to retire Campbell River or Parksville will probably be the place. You should give it a whirl that's if you've ever heard of the place. Once again I suggest you check your atlas. In all honesty B.C is as gorgeous as it gets. I've seen the great majority of Canada and the US, I've lived all over the place and there's no place else I would rather be.
