It was held at the state capitol. Interesting event. RP spoka a little over 30 minutes. I like many of his positions.

I especially liked his respectful mention of Occupy Wall Street!!!! He is the only Republican that has the sense to understand what the Occupy Movement stands for. While he did not come out and endorse the Occupy Movement, he did acknowledge that we have been fucked over by Wall Street and he understands why OWS is protesting it.

Hands down, he has more common sense than all the rest of the Republican's combined.

Here's some pics:

Does anyone here hold to the notion that Ron Paul is teaming up with Mitt so if Mitt gets the nomination, Ron's son might get selected as VP?

I doubt it has much to do with Rand, at least not for this election cycle. We could see Ron Paul as part of Romney's Cabinet if he was elected though. He's not seeking re-election for his House seat this time around, so it's President or bust for him... unless Romney wins and he's given a position somewhere on the staff. I can't see Gingrich offering him anything, and Santorum sure as fuck wouldn't. :24:

But on the subject of the rally... I wish he'd hold one near me, but it doesn't look like he's going to be getting anywhere near my part of California. How many people do you think were there?

It was well over 1,000 Retro. Lots of young people of course, but there were people of all ages. Some TEA Party folks were there. All three major local stations covered it.

My 17 year old son, who is extremely knowledgable politically is an RP fan. Too young to vote in this election, but would vote for RP if he could. He and I went together and it was interesting discussing the issues. I didn't know jack shit about politics when I was his age.

I'm glad to hear that about your son... we need more informed young people in this country. I saw way too many blind Obamadrones in 2008, it disgusted me... hell, I met a chick that started bawling at the thought that she had helped elect the first black President, but didn't know anything about him except that he was going to change the country. I was knowledgeable politically when I was his age and younger, though I would've been considered a "conservobot" until I turned 20 or so.

He's an amazing kid. He plays geo-political video games with kids from around the globe. He's in his third year of German and communicates with German kids on line helping him learn to speak it. I think his global perspective rounds him out well.

We even went to a TEA Party rally together as well as to the Occupy OKC activities. I do believe in open-minded exposure to all philosophies. I like talking to people at these rallies.

I've seen drones for both parties. Pretty sad indeed. One thing I have managed to learn over the years is our two-party system is far too easy for the monied interests to control. The working class, middle class and small business class are not being represented as well as we should be. But the Corporate class and Banking class are very well represented.

I think the country is getting ready for a viable third party - but whatever party it might be will have to endure massive attacks from the establishment and their monied controllers to survive.

A truly fascinating individual that Ron Paul. It's no wonder the established GOP despise him so. His book, "Liberty Defined" was a very interesting read that cleared up a lot of questions I had about him.

I'm pretty cynical about all politicians and political parties....but I'll give his book a read out of curiosity.
My library has a copy and I'll put a request in for it.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I don't think I will ever truly trust any politician, and political parties all have their pro's and con's so I have always been an Independent...

Way to go John...I am so proud
Promoting the conservatives ...while your fellow liberals arent even calling you a traitor.

So....how to sway a liberal...Announce we have issues with wall street but dont endorse OWS

I see the GOP in control soon.
All we have to do is acknowledge their whines and not endorse them...brilliant
I see some new slogans appearing in the future for the gop.
"People are hungry ..but I dont endorse handouts"
"Many Jobless....but I dont care"
"Wallstreet fucked us...let the whiners whine"
"People are angry with excess govt spending..but we dont care".....{wait that would be the tea party}..."lets reduce spending"

I do have some questions John

Was it peaceful..with all those republicans around?
Or was there trash scattered everywhere with drug induced chanting with rapes and assaults going on in the background as with OWS gatherings?

Did you see anyone get sprayed
If so..were you a victim of any drift?

;)

When John and I took our son to the local OWS encampment, it was very well organized, very clean and it was a safe environment with a lot of very nice people across the socioeconomic spectrum.

BTW, gross generalizations are always wrong, but they are also awfully convenient. ;)
