To be fair Tim does have a point though. I think it would be surprising if in an online community of this size, there wasn't a sex offender who is a member here. There really isn't any way of telling. This is why you always have to be careful on forums and why I will tell some of the younger members here from time to time that some of the stuff they post isn't a good idea.

Its a tough and sensitive one. Parents need to feel their children are protected but unfortunately these things lead to vigilante attacks and sex offenders fleeing so that even the authorities have no idea where they are to keep an eye on them. I really don't know what the answer is.

I think the whole issue is morally problematic. To which point do people deserve to take other's people's rights to feel safe? what are the consequences of being able to know where an offender is located (vigilantes, bullies)? and what if you are innocent and still on that list?

Holy shit, I just checked it, and there's a sex offender a couple of houses over from mine. I never knew there were so many sex offenders, there's 17 in my town alone.

I have to feel bad for some of these people. I found the local registry for Hawaii again, and some of the registered offenders committed their offenses back in like 1950. I have to believe some of the 80+ year old men on here are okay people. Just shows that someone should think twice before committing a crime like this. The conviction stays with you forever.

Surprisingly I found a couple women on this list too. And boy are they scary.:yuk
