So last night Jersey and I roadtripped it up to Griffin to see my favorite band, Rehab, play. Before the show we headed up to Atlanta and had dinner at The Vortex (drove by Tangerine's restaurant as we were leaving, actually, so I waved and said "Hi, Tangerine" as we drove past...don't even know if he was there or not, LOL). Anyway, we're waiting for our table at The Vortex and it hits me that I think it just might have said "15 minute parking" at the spot I parked in. At this point it's been a total of 23 minutes, so I tell Jersey I'm going to go out and check on my car and move it b/c I think I'm parked in 15 minute parking. I walk out and the little parking guy is standing next to my car...and this is what I find.

Ugh!!! So, yeah, $75 later I've certainly learned my lesson. My gut reaction was to beg him to give me a break of some kind but I figure A) He's heard it all already and B) it was my fault anyway, even if it WAS just 8 extra minutes. So I paid the $75, got the boot removed, and decided to laugh about it and enjoy the rest of my night. Oh well...so much for buying that elliptical I wanted. :(

Well he works in Atlanta (I assume lives there, too) and I live about an hour and a half South of there. I just happened to be up there for a concert. ;)

Cool you were close by. No, I wasn't there. In fact, I now no longer officially work there. I started today in my new job as the Chef de Cuisine at one of our company's other restaurants.

Yes, the Atlanta parking Nazis are HORRIBLE!. It's a private company that the city hired to enforce all parking and they guaranteed the city some crazy amount of money - like $10 million a year or something - in parking fine revenues. They will boot your car for being 1 minute over the expire meter time. And they had the law changed to where you are not even allowed to "re-feed" your meter. If you park and pay for one hour, your car must be moved by the end of the hour. It's insane, and there are already dozens of lawsuits being filed to stop it.

Ahhhhh...well congrats on the new job!!! Wow, that's crazy. I wanted to be all "fuck you, you asshole...kiss my ass" but I figured it's not his fault he's got a shit job and I *did* go over the time limit, so I deserved it I guess. Doesn't mean I'm still not pissed about losing $75, though. Oh well...lesson learned. That is STUPID about having to move your car at the end of the hour, though...crazy!!!
