Sorry to be contravertial but frankly, most threads in this section lately are boring me to death, economy and Obama being a Commie really dont rock my boat.;)

So what do you think? Is their anything good to say about him?The best I personally can think of is that he was responsible for the biggest selling car ever but then, the VW Beetle is probably the shittest car ever and that takes some doing when VW are one of the best car manufacturers around!

seriously? the dude was responsible for mass genocide in the name of ethnic cleansing,.. Even if he was right about anything this pretty much outweighs it. I went on a Holocaust feild trip to NYC with a group of kids in junior high, I saw the holocaust museum and where people who got out stayed... I have nothing bright to say on this topic.

Well, really, anything Hitler did was overshadowed by the Holocaust.

Although, he was brilliant, you have to be considering he started off as a labor union member and was able to unite most, if not all of Germany and invade a few countries before anything was really done about it.

Sure, he was a horrible person as far as morality goes, but you do have to respect his brilliance... sort of. (Although it's kinda funny that he was half Jewish (or something... maybe it was a fourth?) and yet he ruthlessly persecuted the Jews.)

He ensured the people worked for the benefit of the nation, be it the building of roads or hospitals. Even before the invasions he had engendered a fervent sense of pride and purpose into a nation decimated by the repayment of the 1st World War defeat.

Of course, the precursor ito any of that is that the guy was a genocidal psychopath whose ultimate plan was something that millions paid the price for.

I remember being told at one time he was a brilliant millitary tactician. But that's not even true. He made many serious blunders in the 40s. All he really did was take advantage of countries with lesser millitary. When faced with legitimate opposition (other than France), he just buckled.

And he seriously underestimated the value of air supremacy and put all his faith in his tanks. Which do work well, when you're fighting against men on horseback...

i agree 100%...hitlers tactics were flawed...why on earth would he want to attack russia when he had a peace pact with them?

-One of the greatest leaders to ever live. I mean this by the sheer fact that he was extremely convincing, charismatic, and could unite people under one cause.

-Unified a totally broken country and built the economy back up to be one of the most powerful forces on the planet in under 10 years

-Most politicians and public speakers would kill for his charisma

-Living standards were excellent under him

Because there is strong evidence that Russia was actually going to attack Germany. Why do you think the Germans captured so many Russian soldiers, material and tanks so early into operation Barbarossa? it was because the Russians were massing their forces on the borders.

Plus, their peace agreement was very unstable. Hitler knew he was going to face them at one point or another.

Hitler would have never come to power if the Treaty of Versailles was not absurd. The allies pretty much helped him get into power.

I always wondered why Stalin never got as bad as a rap as Hitler did. By all accounts, Stalin was MUCH worse than Hitler.
