Ugh, V. I know that feeling all too well. Liberty and Darian (the girls) were in and out of the hospital until they were 7 & 6. It was insane. Glad to hear your son is doing better. Dehydration gets a lot of kids...and adults...so keep an eye on what YOU are getting into your system, as well.
And guys...as for the ear infections, they are usually treated with the methods currently listed...but if there's too much fluid built up behind the drum, they'll simply lance it and let it drain out. It hurts a tad...but nothing you can't live with. Otherwise, they'll send you home with 'scripts for antibiotics and ear drops. It usually clears up in a couple days, but don't stop your medications until they're gone. (Recently went through this with Darian.)
For more severe loss of hearing...well, Liberty had surgery at 7 to release the pressure in her ears. She was 75% deaf from birth, and after the surgery (they removed her adnoids and tonsils and lanced her ears), she could hear clearly for the first time ever. It was painful for her for about a week, and then she was running around again. I kept her pretty doped up, though.
Ok. I rambled enough.
