Warwick Castle

I didn't have my DSLR. I forget me and my friends had made plans to go here so I only had my tiny Casio p&s. It wasn't bad - but I missed the lenses most of all from the DSLR.

Took one photo with my iPhone too before we went into the castle. I wanted the life size dalek but there would have been no way to transport it home easily. My attention was drawn to the nice sign though near the dalek.



This Casio could do vids. Not great vids but I thought I'd try it during an eagle demo. I forget the name of the eagle but it had to apply its air brakes *very* hard to land on the log where the treat was. They stopped it landing on the handler as it would end up knocking the handler back quite a few feet upon landing. Also my first (and maybe last) youtube vid.

My favourite castle.

It's not bad at all. A good experience on the day. Mega busy though... people from all walks of life and over the world. Even some gurkhas were around (with shirt and tie, despite the very hot weather).

A few shots from the day. I hadn't shot with this camera before - it's mine but I'd lent it to a friend. Big difference compared to the DSLR was the blurry nature of pics I wouldn't bat an eyelid at with the DSLR - e.g. low light situations particularly. Higher ISO shots also came out with far more colour grain than the DSLR would provide of course.

Despite knowing it would be fixed, of course - I did try to remove it.


The trebuchet. It did fire a flaming bundle - but I couldn't capture it.


The first of a few birdies that were out and about awaiting their demonstrations.




These birds were getting near the time for training so getting restless. This one saw the handler go past and started calling like this. As soon as the handler went out of eyeshot - the calls died down.


High ISO shot attempt of the vulture being quite restless. The grain is telling.

This chair kinda made the shot look far too busy imho.


Four poster bed opulence.


A servant fills a tub in one of the rooms.


Literally - a hot water bottle from days gone by.


A lot of the rooms were set up with sound etc. Not a great shot - but I did peek around the curtains to see what was going on after hearing... sounds.

Balcony view. The castle is also used for events and later on - a wedding reception was planned. Name tags were there on the tables of course. A good idea that was implemented was that on the back of each card - was the main course that each guest wanted - to save confusion etc no doubt.

The Eagle and handler. This was one knackered eagle. It missed the tower twice before getting it on the third try (same eagle from the video).

Seeking some shade. Quite a few peacocks in the gardens - none did their thing though.

Yeah, I've always said as many of us who use DSLRs do - that P&S cams can take good shots too.

Unfortunately, I saw nothing - not even models or humps in the bed!

I don't see the difference between these pics and your DSLR pics. May as well just keep shooting with the POS...ermm...P&S.
