9th Company.

Just got done watching this. A Russian movie set during the Soviet Union era in Afghanistan. Kinda reminded me of a mix between Full Metal Jacket and Hamburger Hill.

The theme is a familiar one - but it is done very well indeed. Heartily recommended.

Off the top of my head:
The Longest Day
The Enemy Below
Bedford Incident (Cold War)- the ending is explosive...
Great Escape
Dr. Strangelove (Cold War which gets hot)
Failsafe (Cold War which gets hot)
In Harms Way
Bridge Over the River Kwai
Patton
Apocalypse Now
The Deer Hunter
Platoon
Forest Gump (a little Nam)
Schindlers List
Saving Private Ryan

...I'm sure there are others.
