Re: RE: Walmart is taking over the world
same ole shit said:
I agree with most of your statement.....but what wal-mart does is bust up the community to a point....with those small towns and all they do is re-employ those out of work...my wife worked pt work them for 5 years...my mom worked for sam's before they were SAM'S*L*....thier profits not on paper are in the 20-25% at least..though nothing wrong will making money but at what cost,I know they are not the only ones, but are one of the only one's who fight thier customer to be where thiere not wanted....big bus.. runs this country not us the people..
Eh, I don't know. For one thing, they can't force themselves into a town. Unless your local zoning board grants them a permit, they can't open shop. And if your local elected officials think their election is in jeopardy, they won't bother.
Take New York for example - they haven't gotten a single store in any of the five boroughs, and God knows they've tried like hell.
Most little towns want a Walmart. That's why poor kids have a nice selection of cheap clothes and a blurry Korean made tv - I never had anything like that when I was a kid, it was just too expensive. And all those years my mother scrubbed toilets at the resorts, she would have been damn happy to work a cash register.
Do they secretly make more money? I doubt it. It's very hard for upper level to hide the money, there's just too much of a paper trail. If they bought their products from other companies they could hide some, but It's pretty much impossible with China, because again there's such a large paper trail.
Laundering money is really the domain of investors, and those who aquire money from politicians.
I can't stand Walmart, but I recognise their right to exist and the benifits they provide the country.
A crappy $8 an hour job is better than welfare.
