Valentines Day

You know what's really rubbish? All the men who say 'what? I don't need a stupid made up holiday to buy you flowers/chocolates/jewelry/a nice meal!'

But they never seem to do those things any other day of the year either, so maybe one day for that would be quite nice, actually.

Very true!

To be honest my hubby has only ever given me flowers once... it was the day I came home from the hospital with our son.

Exactly. And it's always those that say that about Valentines Day that don't make it a priority to ever do anything like that. :thumbdown

that's why we love Miss Satin.....

;);););)

*mwah* ;)

I try to do stuff like that despite the day. :p

this isn't directed at anyone but i hate the "fuck these commercialized holidays" people. Have a bit of fun. Holiday's are what you make them. Behind the commercialism is a history and tradition.

It's not the fact that it's commercialized... it's the fact that it's a damn made-up holiday that's hyped by flower companies and jewelery makers more than anything.

If by made-up you mean a tradition that originated with the Romans then.....? :p

Shit like 'grandparents day', that's made-up rubbish (they already have mothers and fathers day, and you can't be a grandparent without first being....) but Valentines Day has a lot of history. It might be a less serious holiday than ones like Christmas and Easter but hey, it's a nice reason to show a little love.

It's not a made up holiday. It's been a tradition since the 14th century. It's certainly grown in popularity with our technological advancements making advertising much easier, but it was a tradition well before people decided to profit off of such.

Perhaps made-up isn't quite accurate. It's overhyped and propped up by those that would profit off of it. I'm well aware of the history behind the day... but what it's been made into today is idiotic, inane bullshit. But that's just my opinion on the matter.

I dunno, I don't necessarily hate V Day. I just hate the fact that I know I'm gonna hear all my girlfriends talk about "OHH HE'S THE SWEETEST THING EVER, LOOK HE BOUGHT ME FLOWERS AND TOOK ME TO DINNER" :blah::blah::blah: And then they're gonna be like, "What did you do for V Day?" I went to a party with a bunch of bitter women. lol

this day is so wrong from men and women

if some poor guy get something and do something then some ladies will go oh only this expecting big present and dinner

and most men on the other side do nothing

why not keep it simple from the men remember and just give a small card with even one flower and no need to go out for dinner just make something nice at home

and maybe just some women stop not been happy just because got just flowers or just because was not what you expected and wanted something bigger to brag to the friends be happy with what you got there is many more around that not been remembered

this is why i hate that day

Thanks Kim!!

*blushes*
