I have a conair, it's got a steam thingy on it..lol..I love it, it's fabulous!

Mine is Remington lol. It was only $37 but it's better than my current one. The one I have at the moment is a small tiny mini straightener that's pink and I got it free with a magazine (so it must be shit right?). The plates were painted with white but the paint came off so I'm basically straightening my hair with hot metal plates which is crap.
And so my new one is much better and bigger, even with Teflon surface protector on the plates and it does all sorts of wonderful things in protecting my hair apparently lol. And I can adjust the temperature so if my hair is thick or thin or extra wavy I can beat its arse whoop!

I flip my hair on the sides now, and in order to do this and have it stick the straightner has to be very hot....I have had others in the past that didn't quite do the job but this latest one is great...it's a pretty red too...lol
