just got a friendly e-mail...thanks but no thanks. due to:

  1. not finishing my bachelors degree (will be done in December and it is not even a class)
  2. unemployed for longer than 12 months (it will be two years in September
  3. this, that and more of that!
had a good mind to write to the recruiter and try and explain my situation, but figured it would be wise not to...and the joys of applying online...who knows who will be reading the resume/cover letter...and when they will look at it....

Who gives a fuck how long you're unemployed? if you could find a job you wouldn't be unemployed... Gotta love peoples logic.

It really is a pain that lengthy unemployment makes employment harder to obtain, but they always think the worst of people. It raises a reg flag like you're a social deviant.

Just keep your nose to the grind stone, PJ, it will come, it's just a bitch from hell and takes a long time.

PJ...I'm really sorry to hear this! Man, there aren't any "pat" answers to make it better. These are really rough times as I'm sure you know all too well. You have no idea how often your situation is in my thoughts and prayers. I really do hope things turn around for you soon...you have been busting your arse - finishing your degree and applying for work. Don't give up man and don't let this get you down. Keep your head up and keep pushing forward!

I really wish I could help!

It's like experience requirements. You can't get a job without five years experience, but they won't hire you so you can get experience! So frustrating.

ran into this problem with a collection agency where I applied. it was an entry level position and the interview (on the phone) was asking me what experience I had in this area. (virtually none) I called him on the what the ad had said and I then said.. how do you expect this from someone when the ad said ENTRY LEVEL???? his answer...well, you need some sort of knowledge of how this works...riggghhhttt....

PJ..., I am new here and don't know all the details, but if you want you can PM with the field you were in and education and stuff. Due to my business dealings and networking I know people all over the country in different sectors. I MIGHT be able to help you out. A longshot I know, but it never hurts to try..

I hope you dont encounter too that after your Bachelor's --prospect employers tell you that you need 1 year experience with the degree to be hired :(

A friend is encountering just that and having a hard time finding a job :thumbdown

That's pretty idiotic that unemployment works against you in job seeing. Especially in this economy. Eh, screw em PJ, the right job will come =]

Unemployment sucks. And the zynical replies one gets on application letters suck more. -__-

There were times when I almost was about to send some sarcastic reply by mail or so. Sometimes it's hard not to thorw bombs somewhere. :ninja

I call them 'fuck off letters', because that's what they essentially are. Very disheartening.
