When I was 18 it was 19 in Alabama but 18 in Florida. Not long after I turned 21 the law changed to 21. I think the intent was to keep alcohol out of the high schools. A lot of people turn 18 before graduating high school.

It should most definitely be 18 in the US. Making it 21 is just a joke... you can smoke, vote, and die for your country at 18, but you can't drink booze? Give me a break.

It's kinda stupid in the US that we say 18 is mature enough to vote, fight for your country, marry, live alone, start a family, etc etc etc ... but not mature enough to drink a beer.

Now I can hardly stand to drink anything but wine I get so full and bloated before I start to get a buzz
I also cant stand the hang overs

Personally, I look at the drinking age being as it is because there are more deaths involving alcohol than any other substance used by anybody. It is dangerous for people under the age of 21 in the US, because they do not yet have the mental capacity to see that being drunk is for mature adults.

Moral of the story?
Giggle at farts? Don't drink.

It's 18 here.
I'm in the "old enough to fight for your country" group too.

People from sneeking around on there parents. Or drinknig in a secert place and passing out.

I think parenting plays a bigger role in that than legal age restrictions.

I agree that 21 is a pretty silly age to make drinking legal. I dont feel a persons mental state changes much between the age of 18 and 21 to warrant such a gap in legalised drinking. 18 should be made the legal age worldwide, or they should base it on alcohol related crimes and problems per country (Saying that, if they did this us Brits wouldn't be allowed to start drinking till we were atleast 42).
