Ubuntu vs. Kubuntu

I get that while Ubuntu is starting up on my desktop. Never had a problem, just sits for a sec, then I see the loading screen.

when it did it it was for more than a second. I'm not having many problems right now. I do want to know how to instal sh files. And i still think my card has a bit to do with the display because when windows are transitioning u can see flickers of black as it transitions. Maybe it can't handle it. This CPU was old when I got it.

i don't own a usb stick. I seem to be having a problem with my screen saying no signal sometimes when it boots up, which would lead me to believe it's a conflict with the graphics card or monitor driver right?

Err, I would assume so yeah, if it works with a different OS then yeah there is some sort of conflict.

Sh files? Never heard of them. And yeah that might be it, although as far as I remember reading, Ubuntu doesn't hog much resources. (At least that's what I remember reading.... somewhere.)

I'd be willing to bet it's not your hardware. I've ran Ubuntu with all the visuals up on shit hardware. See if you have propitiatory drivers that you need to download and install. I haven't checked in a while but I believe it's under System, Admin, Hardware. Something like that. Then you just click on the driver and hit install. It can be kinda flaky, so give it a couple tries if it doesn't work the first time.
