Perhaps the end result has nothing at all to do with this thread..... Perhaps people should stop jumping to their own conclusions.

In the end.... Moderators and Administrators do the best that they can. Not everyone will be pleased with every decision that is made.

That's life in a nutshell.

Oh but it does. I was privvy to "watch this go down", in PM. Retro was on probation and I know why. Then Retro decided to smart off a bit, because he was pissed (and, rightfully so...), which led to his banning.

No jumping to conclusions here.

Perhaps the MODs should tell us why somebody was banned? In Florida it's called "The Sunshine Act" and in DC it's referred to as "transparency". I know the idea was proposed at one time.

We all accept that being a MOD is a thankless task, but it's crap like this thread and the blow-back that make it even harder. All we see is one member with a history of being abrasive who posts a thread that seems to be nothing but an insult and another member who ends up getting smacked with the ban stick.

You say it wasn't due to this thread and we are jumping to conclusions... but what choice do we have, given the lack of a statement from the powers-that-be?

He chose the route..... breaking some rules along the way.

wow ! This is one entertaining thread. It's kinda hard for me to come here and add anything on the "Dana discussion". I'm really a newbie on the forum so don't know really much about any of the members, but as far as I'm reading the forum I never noticed anyone mentioning Dana's unemployment in any situation, but it's possible I missed that. Nevertheless starting this topic must've been kind off an impulsive idea, because it's obvious nothing good would come out of it. I'm suprised with the amount of agression that emerged with neither of the side's really trying to reason with the other. That's that on this topic.

Another case here on which I'd like to speak my mind is unemployment. I fully support the opinion that anyone who is looking for a job will find one. Personally I would never take money from the unemployment office unless I was in a really dire need for it. Since I'm capable of working I think it would be some sort of admiting failure if I couldn't carry my own weight. On the other hand if I was in some way handicaped I'm not 100% sure I would be so hard pressed for finding work as some of you posted earlier. With an certain amount of cash flowing in every month I wouldn't have real motivation to seek for something to earn more. Since I would never face a sink or swim situation (never have the concern of running out of money) of in this matter then I might never learn too swim, metaphorically speaking. Anoter case is that the longer you are unemployed the harder it is to start doing something. I'm kinda sure being condescended, by people I don't know personally, via the internet wouldn't rather be helpful.

I meant in terms of having to declare actions taken, as a public official worker (like a politician) would. It's different here, it's a forum, not a city. Most of the time it's easy to find out what a person was infracted for.

A forum is a community... same difference, doll.

I think the infracted ones need the rubber room forum, as was suggested by someone, earlier. No holds barred. Let them duke it out in there... once probation is over, or temp ban is over, give them freedoms to the rest of the forum. If the shit continues... from either party... back to the rubber room with them. Sheesh. Y'all are handing out spankings and ending up with the SAME END RESULT. Time for change.

Until this forum has a place I can get off I will oppose any rubber room. I've been here two years and I am yet to find that place of the forum.

I'm sorry but I'm just not taking it seriously, if you have this rubber room for people to duke it out they will never resolve their differences, as pointed out in your second part it might lead them to bring it back onto the normal forum. And it'll just be a vicious circle over and over again. Completely unneeded.

I'm definitely not trying to piss anyone off. Be advised that I do not have all the answers.

I will suggest that if you do have questions or concerns, please be patient for those with the answers who can address them..... to do so.

Yeah, this is the real problem with welfare imo. The current system in the US takes away motivation to work. I am told some people can make more money on welfare than if they work. That should never happen. It's a sign the system is broke. If someone gets a low paying job then take away some of their welfare but make sure it's still in their benefit to work.

And the mods taking care of it instead is helping how? Just a bunch of peeved members, is what I'm seeing.

I've been on forums for 10 years now. They're cyclic... kinda like women. :ninja

Take a look at my join date. Have you ever wondered why I haven't reached 2,000 posts here, yet? There is a reason, yanno.
