I have my high school typing teacher on Facebook. I chatted with her, briefly, this morning and thanked her for teaching me so well. Though the IBM's, Royals, etc. are far gone, the computer keyboard is just the same. In the years that we have had 'puters, I have brushed up on my typing skills a lot.

Growing up in the 90s and 2000s I took computer and typing classes all throughout school from Elementary up through high school, it is definitely an essential skill to have in this day and age.

I can type quickly on an Android screen, but not on a computer/laptop screen. When typing on a computer/laptop screen I'm still looking for the position of the letter I want. And I can only type with two fingers there. LOL

I'm useless. I know.

I just did a typing test, 90 words a minute with 100% accuracry.

The problem I find with these typing tests is it doesn't give a true reflection of your normal typing speed.

1) You type faster when your in a "free hand" type moment. Meaning, if your just typing out the words as you are thinking of them and they are coming into your head. Vs typing out words you are trying to read and copy. Which would be slower.
2) A speed "test" will often try and make you feel to go faster, which can result in more mistakes.

That's right, back when I was at school there was a typing lesson with both hands. You have to be fast and you can't look at the keyboard, my teacher often scolds me because I often look at the keyboard, which I haven't memorized well, LOL
