Trying a new restaurant...

I like to try new places. Depending on the type restaurant I like to try dishes that tell me how good they are at their craft.
A new BBQ place always I try the brisket or the ribs.
We tried a Cajun restaurant Saturday. I always try the gumbo, I am often disappointed.
Saturday I tried some of the best gumbo I ever tried. I was thoroughly impressed.

Do you try certain items depending on the restaurant?
