so has anybody watched it?

it is unlike any other show far as I can tell

i have a feeling that it will run out of steam but the subject matter is ripe for going in any number of directions.

and the occasional naked bodies don't hurt either :D

Don't have HBO, but I think this is the one based off some novels by Charlaine Harris, which I've read a few of. Entertaining reads, would like to see the series.

I saw the first episode, which seemed to have potential but did not really grab me like other hits like Deadwood, Rome, and Dexter. As I've given up on HBO for now, hating $150 per month cable/internet bills, I may have to wait until the first season comes out on DVD.

I don't have Showtime but watched Dexter when it came out on regular tv. The show is addicting. Never could get into Deadwood or Rome.

Entourage is good :thumbup

I hear ya about the money. I pay that for two boxes, one a DVR, internet phone, internet and cable with HBO and Cinemax. I called up and dickered with them and they came down $35. ended paying almost the same as before without the DVR and got the phone included which saved money on the phone bill.

There are two shows that I felt "funny" watching for the first time. Dexter and Big Love, but obviously for different reasons. :) Could I like a mass murderer? Turns out yes. Could I enjoy watching the hoops a guy married to 3 women has to jump through? Poor guy has to take viagra to keep up.

Bottom line I adjusted to both. Dexter is an incredible story. However when you watch him cut someone up, it really hits home that this guy is sick, no matter how normal he can seem. The incredible thing about Dexter is that he manages to live any semblance of a normal life at all. The end of the Dexter Second Season was probably one of the finest examples of a ST/HBO series. I was on the edge of my seat! And yes, you're missing out on some decent nudity. No worries about missing hack and slash though. As far as i can tell you see all of that on whatever network is carrying the sex-edited version. :)

Regarding True Blood, the notion of vampires announcing themselves to society is interesting despite thinking that in real life they would all be locked up immediately if they could be caught. :)

Minor I thought CBS did a decent job with the gore on Dexter. Which is where I first got to see it. I watched one of the DVD's for the 2nd season but I kind of want to wait to watch it on regular tv. I look forward to that show coming weekly

What channel is Big Love on?? Never have seen it.

I rented the first 2 DVDs for the 1st Season of True Blood- 4 episodes. Hmmm, it has not grabbed me yet. I'm gonna watch 2 more episodes and make a decision. The story is not that good, the writing seems weak to me unless it's building to something better. It seems to have ripped off some stuff from Twilight. Hands down other shows such as Dexter, Deadwood, Rome, and Sapranos are FAR superior in their writing and excitement.

I got bored with it

I need to go rent Dexter

That show is fanfriggintastic

Showtime is currently rerunning all of the old Dexters- currently they are half way into Season 1- The Ice Truck Killer. That show is incrediblistic!! The second season was the best, the 3rd not as good. Fingers crossed they can recover for the 4th.

I think the second season of Dexter is the best TV series I've ever seen, accepting that for an overall rating, for as long as it ran, Sapranos has no equal for overall impact.

I was never into vampire shows.

The problem with True Blood is that it takes most of the mystery out of vampires. I read the Twilight series (the movie was good), and while it was sanitized for teenagers, it was good enough for me to finish all 4 books. I liked the conflict between the vamps and the shapeshifters and poor little Bella in between.
