I fancy myself as some kind of BBQ'er. Not a professional or anything, but I can hold my own. Yesterday I decided to fire up the WSM (Weber Smokey Mountain) and smoke a tri-tip to make sandwiches with.

I've made better before, but I was hungry, and impatient. I'm not a professional but I know Weber and their products, and how to cook just about anything on them. If you need any info, let me know. :)

Oh, and P.S. don't ask me about gas grills. Gas belongs in the Jeep, nowhere near my food. :p

That's a very nice looking tri-tip... the funny thing is that I doubt about 90% of our members here even have a clue what that cut of meat is. I need to get another cast iron skillet to cook a tri-tip in the oven with... it makes it so damn good. Though my dad has me beat... he has a Traeger smoker grill; it cooks the meat amazingly well.

One of my favorite things is to cook up a tri-tip, slice it super thin, and then make a sandwich with it on some San Luis sourdough.... soooo fucking good. But nobody outside of our area has probably experienced the amazingness that is San Luis sourdough either. The sourdough bread I got outside of California tasted almost exactly like white bread. It made me a sad panda. :(

Traeger Smokers are bad ass. If I ever upgrade from my WSM, I'm getting an egg. :thumbup

I use Watsonville Sourdough, made up the hill in, well.....Watsonville.

It might be the only product worth a shit from there.

Watsonville has some decent strawberries too. :24: I've had that sourdough, but I prefer San Luis for whatever reason. Oh, and Big Green Eggs are awesome... my aunt has one, and I want to steal it every time we're up there for family batherings.

Nice bark. Did you use a rub or just S&P? What wood did you use? Nice looking slices.

I used Ployboy's Bovine Rub. It's good stuff.

That bark isn't even my best, as I said I got impatient. Thanks for the kind words!!
