Train Rides....

Thanks Anita!!!! that sounds like fun...maybe next summer wife and I can do this...

I like the packages they have. They don't seem too bad for the hotel stays, the monuments/places you get to see, and the ride itself.

I take the train to go to NYC. The ride is only an hour or so but feels like eternity because trains are so boring. The scenery is nice at points but crappy out others, trains tend to go through the old rusty section of towns.

The plus is that you don't have to take a car.

To get to London you take the train. Everybody does, driving and parking in London is somewhat of an art form.

I do like Train Journeys, I like the scenery and the rocking and the noise and all of it. I much prefer it to travel by coach or bus.

:24: At people on this thread who have never been on a train. Sorry, maybe it's just a cultural thing but it's like asking "have you ever breathed in air?"

Travel by train isn't as common here as it is over there. It's not available at all for me unless I drive about 100 miles or so first and even then it's limited.

That was back in 2006, I think. I'm possible going back in January, though.

And even then it's a limited schedule. There's been rumors of a commuter train line being opened that will run from our area to Atlanta but it's been talked about for a decade now and they're STILL saying it would be 2020 before it would even begin being constructed.

My son is obsessed with trains. He would love to go on a train ride. I have never been on a train ride before though. Maybe that is something that I will do in the future.
