Shawshank isn't the best movie I've ever seen, but I do like it a lot. I can understand why it ranks so high.
On this topic, it wasn't until recently I appreciated the first Godfather movie. It took a few viewings, but now I think it's a veritible masterpiece.

Basically your right.. What's on the top today may fall to 10th or 15th spot tomorrow and something like Avatar may jump back up to the top depending on the topic of the day.
It was just interesting to see the chart at that time..
Star Wars is out in 3D .. Will it jump to number 1 soon.. Who knows and Jar Jar Binks will be on Top again ( just for Darrell )..

I liked The Shawshank Redemption, but I wouldn't put it #1, I too liked Pulp Fiction better, but then it's not a movie for everyone, my hubby didn't like it......
Out of the top 20, the only one I haven't seen is City of God....never heard of that one.....

It's a Brazilian film about a kid who gets partially involved with Rio street gangs. Good film.
I will Zorak, I looked it up. I will have to rent it when Joe isn't there though....he won't watch a movie w/subtitles
On that list, I haven't seen City of God or Seven Samurai.
I'm glad to see Goodfellas there too, such an awesome movie.
I personally didn't really like Fight Club all that much. The ending is good and all, but it isn't really my type of movie.
I think it's a movie that appeals to a very wide audience which probably accounts for all the high votes. I think it's fair for it to make number one
