As President Obama heads to Copenhagen next week for global warming talks, there's one simple step Americans back home can take to help out: Stop "going green." Just stop it. No more compact fluorescent light bulbs. No more green wedding planning. No more organic toothpicks for holiday hors d'oeuvres.

As America joins the rest of the world in finally fighting global warming, we need to bring our battle plan up to scale. If you believe that astronauts have been to the moon and that the world is not flat, then you probably believe the satellite photos showing the Greenland ice sheet in full-on meltdown.

Much of Manhattan and the Eastern Shore of Maryland may join the Atlantic Ocean in our lifetimes. Entire Pacific island nations will disappear. Hurricanes will bring untold destruction. Rising sea levels and crippling droughts will decimate crops and cause widespread famine. People will go hungry, and people will die.
Morally, this is sort of a big deal. It would be wrong to let all this happen when we have the power to prevent the worst of it by adopting clean-energy policies.

It's hard for me to think any of this is rational when the EPA declares that carbon dioxide a dangerous gas.
I guess we all have to stop exhaling.

We strarted planning some years back.
Planning for Climate Change

Singapore Wants Dutch Dikes

Singapore has decided not to wait for sea levels to rise, preferring to plan ahead. Elder statesman Lee Kuan Yew said the city-state has contacted experts from the Netherlands for help with dike construction as it prepares for the effects of climate change.

we are doing more than a lot of other countries

when you get places like China and India to sign on to the same crap then it would be a start.

Until then it is a farce

Did anybody see the grovelling yesterday by one of the African leaders demanding our as in US billions in aid to his country.

In its current form all the climate change proposals are the equivalent of swatting at roaches with a tweaser and a massive resdistribution of wealth from ours and some other countries to the poor ones. Just another in the long lines of shell games similar to the UN idea of a tax for us to pay to go to the poor countries.

We need to get the hell out of the UN and tell them to friggin stuff it.

There's a reason they dig their graves an extra 3' deep. You can't get their fucking arms to lay flat. Fuckers are always sticking out. I say chop the buggers off and save the swet for something more important.

The UN is US and US ally biased. It's based in New York for one, it's perfect for the US and her allies, 90% of the time it agrees with them. And if it doesn't, we go ahead and do it anyway :24:

As for China and India, it is true they are huge polluters. But they are also developing economies. All countries who travelled through the first 3 stages of the development graph were massive polluters. Britain from the 16-19th century cut down just about every single tree in Scotland.
The developed nations have to help the developing nations to adopt a more efficient fuel (if i remmber right, the type of coal China use most is a light brown and powdery waste and releases barely half the power of the coal you and I can buy at a shop)

And the UN is still the most insane group of idiots next to the US govt.

Kick their useless ass out and send it to Europe where they can be fawned all over.

we'll be the cause of our own demise. Sometimes I think we want a problem where the problem is minimal or not as bad as people are touting it to be. I agree with accountable, it's a bit laughable.

we are cleaning things up

have been for years

take a look at the history of Lake Erie for an example

You want to see real pollution go to the old Eastern Bloc of states that were in the USSR

What have THEY done to clean up their act compared to what we have done??\

What is China done? With all the damn money they are getting from us they should be able to afford to do something. Have you seen anything in the US like the air issues at the last Olympics in China??

That's a terrible example imo. They didn't have anywhere near the knowledge about pollution then as they do today.

While I agree with you in spirit, I disagree with your methods.

Turning our back on success and prosperity is not the best way to move forward with the pollution problem. Science and technology are making huge strides because of the pressure of market forces.

It'll work. We don't need to live in huts until we figure out a way to be 100% green. The world is NOT in a state of imminent danger.

We have warmed and cooled a thousand times, and will a thousand more. This alarmism is silly.

I'm pretty sure China is giving us money... not the other way around. ;)
