I also refuse to Vista, until it proves to be better than XP, no thanks.
and did you notice that after xp was sooooo successful, microsoft decided to unleash an "even better" OS, an OS so good that "you will shit your pants when you see it!" And after vista is unleashed upon an unsuspecting world, everybody except those that are new to computers, say "This OS sucks! WTF was I thinking?!" Nobody buys vista. Microsoft announces that they made a deal to "downgrade" vista to XP (since vista sucks monkey balls). Now that vista still sucks and hacks are still being made, they decide to unleash "se7en" OS... lets see if this is the one that gives SkyNet sentience and the power to launch those 'Nukes on Aug 29, 1997.... we shall see!

I don't understand what the issues are with Vista. Is it the OS isn't working in general, like getting system errors? Or is it that people just do not like how it works?

I have it with SP1 and like it. I don't like the fact that it's a memory hog, but other than that I haven't had issues with the OS.

its alotta things. the way the system is laid-out (icons and such), administrator rights that turn off the monitor for 5 seconds when you try to install something... i thought i broke my wife's computer the first time it did that, and ended up restarting the computer probably 10 times cuz i thought that was not normal behavior... thanks, microsoft, for telling me that. Also, see: Windows Vista's biggest problem | Windows Vista for Beginners
Another problem I had was drivers and application compatibility. For some reason, it just isn't (or wasn't) compatible with some drivers and software...

Vista is a bitch when it comes to networking, also I've used it (helped my brother install iTunes), and its just not user friendly in my opinion.

I just choose to XP since it hasn't failed me yet, and works great for me.

Vista is just a visual OS, not a functional one in my opinion.

Now Windows Mojave, thats another story altogether :D

There have been so many complaints about Vista that I don't believe MicroShit is going to waste a lot of effort on it. They are already getting ready for Windows 7, which they say will be more reliable, safer and more user friendly...

...where have we heard that before?...

...At the launch of every fucking Windows release! :24:

YES! I agree! I tried networking my computer (xp) to my wife's (vista... ugh)...didn't (net)work... vista just won't recognize my xp... sommamabitch...
Tried installing iTunes... I had to download drivers for it to accept her ipod nano...
Vista is visual, and it hogs resources that are dearly needed for my game (KoToR II)
vista is only good for playing music, not much else. i refuse to play my games on the computer, even though the cpu is 2x faster... but the os is 2x fatter!

Well, I've got XP as of now, I think NicAuf's said that twice now. In regards to the SATA problem you can download nLite and slipstream the drivers for your SATA drive into an XP disk, assuming you know what HD you have. As for your formatting problem, I'm gonna guess that's something your manufacture did, cause I had no problems. I'd try using an Ubuntu disk (free download) to format, it works really good. The major hurdle I had was finding drivers for my video card. Apparently nVidia allows manufactures to create their own laptop specific drivers so you have to download hacked drivers that were made for desktops. But like I said, I did it in a night and it works pretty damn good so far. I get better frames with higer settings in Portal and everything else is sooooo much faster.

Unfortunately it looks like Windows 7 isn't gonna be much better.

I had no issues with Vista until the SP1 came out and installed itself on my laptop. After it installed (which, at the time I did not know had happened) I kept getting the BSOD. I did some research online (on my desktop) and found that the SP1 was causing it. I uninstalled the SP1 and voila .. no more BSOD.

I love the filing system and find it very user friendly. It asks before it does anything (unless you turn it off) so you can't really fuck anything up .. unless you don't read what it's asking you before clicking yes or ok.

I also like the features it offers. If people would just read the book that came with it .. they'd be shocked to learn what all you can do with it. Limiting internet time, tracking internet time, and recording live tv are just a few perks .. but there are so many more.

It is a memory Hog, but so is XP tho .. that's what you pay for when you have all the bells & whistles .. every version of Windows has eaten up more and more memory each time .. because each time they make it do more and more stuff .. you just can't get away from that .. exceot to buy more memory, which is what I just did.

My Dv6000 came with 1G of memory, so I just bought another gig .. to give me 2 lol.

You like the filing system? That was my biggest complaint. XP's may look dated but everything just seems to be where it should be in my opinion. I find it much easier to navigate. I read and discovered a lot of the features in Vista as well, and I don't really like many of them. The one thing I do sort of miss is the search on the start menu. But XP's is so much nicer that it's really no big deal to me. But whatever, if you like Vista have at it, but for now, I'm gonna cuddle up to my nice familar XP. :D

Half Mac and half PC? I love people who buy Macs because "Microsoft is so bad and Macs are so cool" and then rely on MS products like Office or even go one step further and dual boot OSx/Windows.

Same here, I've never seen a BSOD in XP except when my dads computer had several bits of hardware fail. I had a blue screen error (not BSOD) on Vista when I was doing the oh so complicated task of shutting down.
