We used to have crab apple fights. They were tiny bitter apples that made good projectiles :) We also walked and biked everywhere. When I moved to Raleigh with the kids I was disheartened because that city is 115 square miles. This means that everything is sprawled out, you can't just walk to the nearest store in most places. The neighborhoods are not connected like where I grew up. Now that we have moved to Redmond, WA, this place is made for pedestrians and outdoor life. Perhaps they will find that the outdoors is not such a boring place again.

You have to find a balance with your kids. I don't let mine play video games all the time. School first at all times.

Must be a tree the kids don't know about is my guess.

The conker trees in our local park are plucked clean without fail every year (well beaten down with sticks!)

Trouble is I think most schools have banned playing conkers now as it's a health and safety risk..... more modern world madness if you ask me. :)
