A former kamikaze pilot? WTF???
 
I was watching the History channel once and this show came on about the kamikaze pilots... It showed footage of them in formation during some sort of ritual before take-off. It was weird knowing that they would never step foot on the ground again... then it dawned on me... they were all wearing those leather helmets and parachutes. WTF? why would they need that stuff on? One of the great mysteries of the past :dunno

This guy musta had a really good leather helmet then :D
 
There was a German Luftwaffe unit that crashed their planes into B-52's intentionally to bring them down during the closing months of the war. They didn't think of themselves as "Kamikazes" though. They would bail out before the plane hit, or attempt to after they clipped the bomber with their wings.
