i am so thankful for the opportunity to have survived all these years of interesting times as we give thanks today for the success of the european colonist's caste-stratified church/state technocratic plutocracy over the primitive tribal society of the indigenous people.
i am thankful that the masses have been so well duped into thinking they have a say in what's going on that we enjoy a reasonably tranquil domestic scene.
on a more politically correct note, i'm thankful for the family and friends who have been there for me when i needed it --- especially the two times i was in danger of dying and needed to be transported to the hospital for emergency surgery. i'm even more thankful for the strangers who appeared when my family and friends weren't there.
i'm thankful to myself for having persevered to learn to play music well enough that people want to give me money and things for doing it. i probably should also give thanks for the beggars flying signs because of the added income the contrast between us brings me. i can't forget the cops who give me thumbs ups instead of tickets or the cab, pizza delivery, garbage truck and bus drivers for their tips. of course most of all my patrons, many of whom give me something every time they see me, even if i'm not working when they meet.
last but not least, i give thanks for communities like this one that provide so many opportunities to socialize and learn together.
happy turkey day, you turkeys!
