I'm thinking about applying for a position as a bouncer. I'm also looking into maybe going to PF to workout. I was joking with a bouncer friend of mine and said apply. standing around listening to music and breaking up scuffles doesn't sound like a bad job to me. :D

It's actually a dangerous job Dana, it's not all standing around listening to music, you run the risk of being stabbed or beaten by some belligerent drunk on any given day, you have to be ready to HANDLE THINGS with a job like that, it can get ugly really fast.

LOL I'm not out to meet club chicks by getting this job . It just seems like a job I could handle. I'm at the club every weekend anyways. Why not get paid for it?

your nonchalant attitude is not the attitude to have on one of these jobs. responsibility is key, you may not have heard anything happen there because security has a good handle on the place.

Do it
I worked security at 19 in arizona, granted I had a team with me, which included lots of bars and clubs.
I was only 130 lbs at 5'8" but I still handled my own and it was the best time I ever had

We are not trying to discourage you, but I have had bouncer friends that hated the job..

First they thought, girls girls girls and standing around having people buy me drinks..

Then they realized they need to be pricks to their friends and the people they want to be friends with when those people have to much to drink..

If you are not ready and always on the look out you will get slammed and quickly lose your job.. There is a good chance you could get hurt if you let things get out of hand for not being on top of things fast..

Not saying you should not apply, but it's not listening to music and fun..

I don't think it would be fun personally. I watch two kids all the time, I can't imgine keeping my eyes on 80+ drunken adults acting like kids.

Dana if you can't handle yourself in a scrap don't do it. There will be a time when you'll need to duke it out with someone.

This. While it might not be SUPER common in your area it WILL happen sooner or later, you have to be ready to engage in physical combat at the drop of a hat. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it Dana but make sure you think it totally through and know the risk involved.

Wait till you get shot at, or until you pull a dead guy off his girlfriend because someone shot him in the parking lot.

It's not all fun and games.

Dana are you able to do something like this that may involve fighting with your medical condition? I thought thats why you couldnt work to begin with. Im not discouraging you either I think it would be great if you got a job and interacted with more people on a regular basis other than us, but Im not sure the bar is the best place either lol. Ill take my mom hat off now.

Can't hurt to give it a try. I have worked security for concerts before and the only action I had to take was making a couple of girls get off the chairs they were standing up on. Never been in a fight in my life and no doubt I would absolutely get my ass kicked in a fight, so I'll pass on bouncing, but there are a lot worse jobs out there. ;)
