thing is,this game should never have taken place....the rules were changed towards the end of qualification,it was obvious that the likes of the french and portuguese were going to be in the play-offs so it was seeded to give them a better chance of qualifying....sepp blatter needs to resign right now,hes making a mockery of the game,hes just a silly old man with antiquated ideas whos taking the game backwards....he wants the bigger teams in africa not the better teams....there might be 20'000 french travel next year but you could have guarenteed 50'000 irish

I dont understand how they can do that?

How can the rules be changed after qualifiers start?

Can you explain it for this "blonde"?

Did it look as though the French would perhaps miss out?

well as it stood the french and portuguese were finishing 2nd,in europe the 8 2nd placed teams go into a play-off.....it was possible that the french could play portugal,just as england drew scotland in the euro qualifiers some years ago.....so with 2 games to play the president of F.I.F.A. sepp blatter changed the rules,seeding france,portugal,russia and greece....the other 4 were slovenia,ireland,bosnia and the ukraine

the ties were

france v ireland

portugal v bosnia

russia v slovenia

greece v ukraine

with france,portugal,greece and slovenia going through

i'm not sure but if i was anything to do with the irish football asociation i'd be checking legalities...this has cost them millions
 
Platini won't do anything of course, as he's french and will most likely sweep it under the carpet.

What I will say is while Ireland were cheated they should have done more to win. They did have chances in the two legs to get more than what they did get. Not that I'm not sorry for them, whenever any team get cheated out of something (unless it's Liverpool) then it's bad to see.

This could have beenprevented had an official been behind the goal as thye use in the Europa League.

Now they know what we went through in 86 with maradona.
