I'm now suffering from shock because of a truly terrifying experience last night.A friend and I went to Clophill for Halloween as planned, had a good time up there, saw some strange shit too. Then as we were getting in his van to come home, two car loads full of yobbos kept driving past, chucking eggs at us. Wasn't too worried about that but then as we left the village in the van, the terror began. They followed us and were trying to force us off the road, overtaking and trying to smash through the window with a baseball bad, metal pole and other weapons they were waving out the window. One managed to get past and they tried to box us in and stop us, hate to think what they were going to do if they had managed to do that! Somehow my friend managed to get past the first car and we then ended up being chased at top speed for several miles in thick fog with them throwing things at the van and trying to smash up our van with their weapons they were waving out the window, force us off the road and stop us, it went through several red lights , all over the road, including the wrong side too as my friend attempted to stop them passing. They finally gave up just before we got to Luton, I think they may have seen me on the phone to the police . Unfortunately the Police probably haven't got much chance of finding them because despite being able to give descriptions we were unable to give the license plate numbers, we were trying to get away and in too much terror to think straight about that at the time. I'm still shaking about the whole thing though, what the fuck is wrong with some people???(

holy shit! some people are psycho's. I can never figure out when random acts of violence like this happen, what makes them pick who they pick. Really. I doubt you did anything to make them want to do this. and chances are they probably didnt know you.

Just lookin to be assholes on halloween i guess. thats pretty scary buisness Peter. Im glad your alright.

Did they dent the van at all?

Fortunately the van was ok somehow though at one point they just missed smashing through my window with a baseball bat by inches! We had no chance of outruning them either as they were in sporty cars while my mate's van was loaded up with tools and quite heavy, we were worried we were going to overturn on some bends and roundabouts!

Oh my word Peter. That is insane. I'm sorry you are still shook over the incident. I would be too. I'm glad to hear that you and your friends are ok.

What are yobbos?

Just a word we use to describe arseholes who are just out to cause trouble. Oh yeah, and James, I know its not too difficult to read a license plate but when someone's trying to kill you, its a bit hard to remember things like that! Thinking straight kind of goes out the window!;)

That's real fucked up Pete. Thank God ya'll got out of it.

How'd the hell that came to be? :confused Just so those hooligans came at ya'll for no reason? Was there any alteration/interaction with those guys or their friends before the chasing.

I'm finding it very difficult to believe something like that happened just so. If you could elaborate.

i for one can believe it completly. there are some people out there that like starting trouble for no damn reason.

like this local bar, sometimes big assholes stand outside and wait for some weak guy to walk by and just punch him out.
i witnessed it atleast twice.

some people just dont have respect for their fellow person and were brought up thinking theres nothing really wrong with that.

Yeah, physically I'm ok but I'm still feeling shaky about the whole thing! I really thought I was going to be killed in a nasty hight speed car crash or be forced off the road and beaten to death!:( I'm just relieved I escaped ok. I just heard from my friend and he reckons there is one way the police might be able to catch these arseholes. Because of the speeds we were doing and the red lights we went through, theres a good chance we might have been caught on speed cameras and traffic light cameras, here's hoping!

I'm glad you are ok Peter. :)

But there is something I never understood about being chased in a vehicle. WHY RUN? why do people feel they need to risk their lives with some high speed chase?
Just go the speed limit and if they pull up along side of you, hit the brakes. Even if they were able to box you in and force you to stop, you could ram your way out.

:dunno It's like watching a car chase on TV where a motorcycle is chasing a car at high speeds and the car can't get away.... STOP RUNNING. Just wait until they are right behind you and hit the brakes hard. Once they roll up over your hood, drive away... Chase over.

When you are in your car, especially a truck or van, you are in control of a very powerful weapon. The greatest danger you face is losing control and crashing...

When you're on small country lanes surrounded by trees, its hard to ram your way out before the've had a chance to drag you from your vehicle. Probably wasn't the safest option what we did but its hard to think rationally when you're in these situations.;)

Which is why I understand why you couldn't give plate numbers. lol So VERY true right there. :)
